Well folks, my Mergress finally arrived. I have a few photos here.. and no.. these are not fake. The razor next to it is my FatBoy. Then it is in my hand. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Many thanks to Mer for making it for me!
No clue, only got it today. Tomorrow is the test drive! To be unique, plus I like heavy razors. This guy tops out at just under 6.5 ounces and is over 6 inches long.:rofl
Well, I've never used a DE but Wow! That's one impressively long razor :1respect You could almost shoot pool with that handle! I like it! James.
Size does matter but it's still about how you use it. I mean, looks can be deceiving. Should this thread be moved to the Dirty Jokes thread? :rofl
Hi Ken, I don't believe I've ever seen a razor like that ever before. Man.......a heck of an interesting twist on things. Those specs are pretty amazing, and what a beautiful seamless job on the razor. Let's see........the fatboy weighs just under 3 ounces, and is considered heavy. The handle on my super adjustable is 4 inches, and that's considered long. Whew doggies! That razor must be something to hold. I imagine that this would be an adjustable model, and the handle is turned to effect those changes? Well concealed, if that's the case. I'll be curious to see how this guy works out for you, and congrats on your new tool. Martin Oh.........I don't think you have to worry about it being top heavy..........hehe.
Thanks Martin. I really can only take credit for the idea of it being so long/heavy, the real credit needs to go to Mer for making it. He has been doing the custom Merkur Progress razors for awhile now and I contacted him with this crazy idea and he was REALLY amazing about the whole thing. Yes, the handle is turned to affect the changes on the Progress, and thus by extension this razor as well. Has a range of 1-5+ in half setting increments. And no, I purposely asked it to be weighed in the handle like this to avoid the top heavy problem.
Ken wanted a razor he could use to shave his legs without having to bend over. This one weighs 4 oz and is 4 3/8" long. And it isn't, umm, proportionately challenged.
