Is there a twin blade razor that is as easy to clean the hair out while shaving as a DE razor? I use to use a twin blade quite a few years ago and all I can remember is hitting it against the sink to get the hairs out from under the blades. I would like to get a twin blade for travel and a quick shave when I'm in a hurry. Would like it to be a fairly heavy handle, preferably metal and the type or style of cartridge that you can swish in water to clean and not have to beat on the sink to get the hair out. Thanks
I assume you want a cartridge razor rather than a DE for travel because of the airplane carry-on thing? The Atra compatible Gillette Vector Plus, which I have not seen, supposedly has a built in push button blade cleaning feature, but I don't know exactly what kind of cartridges you'd need for it to work. My only information is a review on B&B. I'm certain it doesn't work with the CVS or KMart Atra compatible cartridges that I used to get, and I don't even know about the current Gillette Atra ones. The one cartridge that comes with it is the correct kind, but I don't know what it's called, or how easy it is to find replacements. Also, the Vector supposedly is a very lightweight, cheap, plastic razor, not what it sounds like you're looking for. But look on Amazon, Yahoo shopping, or eBay if you're interested. It's not made for the American market, and you probably won't find it in stores. I used to take a very thin piece of plastic or cardboard and loosen up the crud in my generic Atra cartridges before rinsing them out. It only took a few extra seconds. You can still get a number of after-market handles that are compatible with Atra or Trac II. That's what I'd suggest.

The problem is they only make disposables now, which aren't the same, and you have to hunt for cartridges. If you're going to use them only for travel, that might not be too bad to deal with. Ebay has cartridges available now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350280003266&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=L*F%3F&GUID=bcb3570c1240a0e204964b76ff9e97f2&itemid=350280003266&ff4=263602_263622 Just for the record, I'm not the vendor in either link, so I don't know how good they are. I just wanted to check availability before I mentioned it. Good hunting!
Oh Oh, this is starting to turn out like my DE start. Buying too many razors. Got two Schick Slim twins coming, thanks to tip from fishgutmaryry . A bump fighter, camo color off of eBay, thanks to paul-dog for telling me about the bump fighter. and a metal schick handle that will use trac II blades. And about 50 different blades, trac II, bump fighter, and slim twins. I'm pretty sure the bump fighter razor and metal shick handle will handle the same cartridges. I don't know if the slim twins are interchangeable or only for use in the slim twin razor. Anyone help me out on this one? Would really be neat if they all interchanged. Thanks everyone for your help and looks like I'm going backwards. Most people go from cartridge shaving to DE. Looks like I'm doing the opposite, at least for now. I still really like the Merkur 39C's, (sledge hammer slants). But this may be better for the road and when I'm in a hurry. The bump fighter cartridge sounds interesting as I understand it only has one blade. Time will tell if it shaves close enough though. The price is pretty reasonable for the cartridges. The Trac II's without the lube strip are pretty cheap also.
The kind of blade you are looking for are made from Merkur just make a search on google about merkur twin blades They have a push button to clean the upper blades.
