Straight Razor Designs offered lifetime honing for a limited time during the holidays, but that offer is gone now. Right now, though, if you buy one it comes professionally honed, as always, but you also get a coupon for one more free honing. It's a great deal.
There's a wide latitude of what could be called "slick creamy". Having just come off the Fels Naptha soap experiment, I can tell you that even laundry oriented soap works but you'll do better with something designed for shaving.
From what I've seen there's a pretty knowledgeable and experienced crowd right here. Anything you want to know... just ask.
I wasn't taking anything away from TSD members and I don't disagree Howard, but they have a whole lotta info across the street that we simply haven't amassed here yet. From the coochie razor to any kind of strop/hone/accessory you can think of to enhance str8 shaving, it is there. I would venture to guess that majority of our members have learned what they share here from research done at SRP. Its an excellent resource at a minimum.
Fair enough! Say I had a short tutorial on some topic. How would I go about submitting that to TSD for more permanent posting?
Yeah, I didn't make it up, I just read about it. Thought it was a brand at first, then after reading a bit saw that it wasn't. Simply go to the applicable forum string (DE, brush, straight razor, etc. ) and create a thread for it. Did this answer your question or did I miss it?
Is there any way to make a tutorial a "sticky"? I'm not sure what that is but I've seen them on SRP and they seem to persist and are easily available to people.
So, is a coochie razor different from a regular straight razor? I have, in my collection, a few "corn razors" which look like small straight razors and were used to cut off "corns" from people's feet.
Good, well, if anyone has an idea for a submission, I'd like to know if it's sticky worthy before going to all the trouble. Is there someone I can talk to about this?
Dude, I'm just gonna let you search for it on SRP. It is a huge amt of info and hilarity. Similar to the corn razor yes, but a bit different
