I acquired a replated rhodium razor made 99 years ago. I'm tempted to wait until it hits the century mark before using. What do you think?
Yeah, I'd wait. Put it someplace you see it every day so your anticipation builds over the next 277 days.
TODAY.............another vote for use it ASAP!! But besure to usr it on ut's Birthday.....or maybe everyday of it's birthday month.....But you can rehearse with it all you like til then...
But what if it turns into a pumpkin at midnight??? Enjoy it ASAP & on it's 100th birthday, we'll throw it a party. You can buy it a great new soap to dance with in celebration. It will be epic.
Whoa! I know I'm kinda dorky about these kind of things but I can't help but imagine the guy who first had that thing. Maybe he fought in some famous battle in WW I and had that with him. I would want to wait until it turned 100 but it's 50/50 as to whether I'd make it.
Use it!! I just picked one up very similar to that one and it is an amazingly mild but effective shaver for me.
Is that a Gillette with a ball end handle? The reason I ask is that I have one that came with a set I got from the Bay. Open comb exactly like the one you show. No markings other than Gillette logo in the diamond and 'MADE IN ENGLAND' stamped underneath. Where do you find out the age of a razor?
You can date some of them by the serial number on the base plate but if there is no serial number you can still narrow it down somewhat. I'm not certain if English made razors followed the US serial and date code system.
No marks other than the ones noted. I seem to remember reading somewhere that UK Gillettes weren't date-marked until the 50's or 60's. however, I'm very new to all this so might be quite wrong. But someone on here will know.
