Is it me, or do you guys have a big mess to clean up after shaving? I have water all over the place, sink, mirror, floor. But, man it's worth it!! nothing like a smooth, warm shave! Are you guys neat or messy like me? If you are neat what is the secret?

When I first started using soap and brush, yeah I managed to get water all over too, but now I can limit it to just the sink top.

First, welcome to the Den. Come often, stay long, share much! Nope, no big mess. Granted, a bit to wipe up on the counter around the sink, but nothing that could be classified as a big mess. My secret? I don't splash. And yet I still get a great smooth, warm shave!
I shave from a bowl, that gets washed along with the razor, brush, and the soap container. The stray drop or two of water I don't worry about.
Firstly....Welcome to TSD. I guess I fall into the "not messy" category. Usually just a few stray drops of water to wipe up. And I keep my supplies nice and neat.
When I started using my brush and mug again, about five years ago, I got water and lather all over everywhere - the floor, the mirror, the hallway outside the bathroom - for a month or two. Since then I've become alot neater. The secret is practice. Welcome to the Den goshawk
I used to make a big, splashy mess, but I've evolved into almost the opposite. Lathering while showering and wiping the lather off onto the towel wrapped around me as I shave has totally eliminated the need to turn my sink faucet on. But on the days I use aftershave splash, all bets are off :happy102
My shave isn't messy, but my prep is. I soak a washcloth in very warm water and hold it to my face, sort of a hot towel treatment - works nice, but water always drips from the washcloth and soaks the countertop. No problem, I just wipe it down with a towel when the shave is done. Hey, that's why it's called wet shaving, right?
the rain in spain I try to keep it mostly in the sink, but the backsplash gets a workout. I solved the cold splash problem by using a cold towel wrap instead.
For me, the mess is far more contained than it was when I used an electric shaver. I have kind of made it part of my routine to clean up the counter after a shave though, so overall my bathroom has become cleaner since I started wet-shaving, but yeah, it is messy.
My mess is not much different than when I used a mach 3 and goo. Maybe a little more water on the counter but wiping that up makes the bathroom cleaner, like Rodd said.
