There is always a lot of buzz around Mama Bear shave soap. I've used this product many times, and the big sell on this product is really the fragrances. You name a scent, and it's probably available. I would say that it is a good product, but not exceptional. I find the cushioning very mediocre. You will get an excellent shave, but I don't find this product as smooth or comfortable as other shaving soaps. Plus, when I'm done, my skin feels a bit of razor burn due to the mediocre cushioning. This product is just about a solid puck of glycerin, and probably lacks some of the other essential ingredients to create a more comfortable shave. Obviously, you'll have to try it for yourself, but in my opinion, Vander Hagen at just a fraction of the price provides more cushioning and moisturizing properties. I've experimented with this using more water, less water, etc., but the result has always been just a bit short of other creams and soaps that perform much better in terms of cushioning and comfort. Now, this doesn't mean it might not be the soap for you. If you can trade a little comfort for a close shave with great fragrances, you might like it. It's just that I have found that I don't need to sacrifice comfort given all of the other great products out there.
