I'm in the market for a facial moisturizer. It's that time of year, when the cold wind starts giving me what is essentially face dandruff if left untreated. In the past, I've used aftershave lotion as my moisturizer. But now, my aftershave lotion comes in a tiny bottle that costs a small fortune (I call it AD Damnbucketism). My point is that I need to find a new man lotion that doesn't cost $2 for a single usage. Something that is completely absorbed. I hate residue, whether it's powdery or oily. I have overactive oil gland this time of year (they try to compensate for the dry skin, with detrimental results). Suggestions?
I got Nivea For Men Revitalizing Double Action Balm Q10 seems like its pretty good you can use it on your whole face. I got it during the summer and its not that cold in California I do detect that it does absorb nicely. about 6 bucks at Target. http://www.drugstore.com/qxp239361/nivea_for_men/revitalising_double_action_balm.htm
I really have nothing beneficial to post here. I just couldn't help but be amused at how you pointed out "(for the face)" in the thread title. Lest our minds wander?
Agreed with aberneth, I haven't posted yet because I laugh at the title to much. Personally I love the f/p homme (fruits-passion) aftershave. It's a clear gel and works fantastic for me when my face really dries out. Not super cheap but very effective.
when you're around college students as much as I am, you learn to clarify where on your body the lotion, cream, gel, or liquid is going. Silly title aside, I've been using nivea sensitive skin ASB, and it does leave a residue on my skin. I tried a sample of a moisturizing cream from a company called Atzen. It's incredible! It looks and feels like crisco, but it goes on like a water based product and doesn't leave a trace of sticky/powdery residue. It works marvelously. The only problem is that it's $90 for a 4 ounce tub. Then again, a pea-sized dollop is about all you need. I also got a recommendation for a product made by Twinlux that I hope to try. In any case, my face dandruff has been slain.
Holy cow!! And I was just messing with you about the title. Guess my earlier post shows who is a dirty minded college student Anywho, are you wanting a lotion that you'll use any time to protect and moisturize your face or something for specifically after a shave?
On days when I decide to use an ASB, I don't really need a moisturizer. On days when I use an alcohol splash, I definitely need a moisturizer. Enter the Atzen cream. It's damn expensive, but I imagine that a tub will last me at least 6 months, if not longer. I guess I can't complain about the expense. I went in on the Creed Windsor split at the B&B. $49.90 for a 15ml decant.
Probably of no help to you but here's some higher rated Amazon findings. Neutrogena Triple Protect Advanced Jack Black Double Duty Matte Complet Lotion for Men
I'm going to give that last one a try before I go in for a full tub of the Atzen stuff. Thanks for the links.
My wife recently picked me up a large tube of Vaseline lotion for Men. Don't have it handy at the moment, but it's in a dark blue container and has a very masculine scent. Almost smells like a cologne or EDT. A nice odor. I mostly use it on my legs 'cause they dry out and itch so bad in the winter months. I don't find it to be very greasy for very long so it should work on the face too. You can find it at any drug store.
Just a thought but I use the Nivea ASB as well and noticed something kind of strange this morning. I live in Texas and the water in the city that I live in washes off soap very easily. That being said, I have never noticed any residue left on my face before. I am in a small town in southern Arkansas right now and when I applied the ASB this morning I noticed a thin chalky film left on my face. The water here doesn't wash off soap as easily either. Could your residue problem be from the water being soft?
I live in Eugene, OR. Our water was rated #1 in the country by sierra magazine. It's soft as a down comforter, so to speak Yeah, washing soap off my face takes a while. Showering takes longer than you'd expect. It could be a water thing. Either way, it's still not quite the solution I'm looking for.
