Mature, masculine, older scents?

Hey guys, had a question on some scents you can guide me to from experience. I'm 26 and love older mature scents, things my father and grandfather used. It takes me back to those times and really brings my childhood memories back to life. I want to give my daughter a scent that she can say, "that smells like my dad!" Lol.

I love tabac, I use it in rotation and I love ghost town barber by chiseled face, that's my daughters favorite. What other shave soaps or even aftershave colognes, or just colognes can you recommend? I use clubman, aqua velva musk, ghost town barber after shave to give you examples of scents I like. Cologne only recommendations would be great as well. Thanks guys!!!

To me, Brut has that classic scent that really takes me back. That is what my dad used when I was younger. I love to use it now.

Another scent you can get in soap and AS is Stirling Barber Shop. It definitely reminds me of the barbershop I used to visit with my dad when I was younger.

Canoe EDT has an almost Clubman, barbershop scent to it.

Vintage Old Spice and Avon splashes can be found on E-bay sometimes at a reasonable price if you aren't in a hurry to buy.

Stirling Gentleman is modern, but is exactly what it says, a gentleman's scent. It has some vanilla, some tobacco, it is just excellent.

I don't know how old you are, but Stirling Noir is Drakkar, and Stirling Green is Polo. If you are a younger fellow, those are getting to be "vintage".

Bay rum's are traditional if not "older", and Ogallala makes some excellent examples. They are a very soothing and healing aftershave.

Proraso Green is to me a very clean and traditional scent, again very soothing. It is a very quick to fade scent. Good for mornings before work.

All of these, except maybe the vintage Old Spice are also very affordable.

I'm a fan of the Fine American Blend aftershave with menthol. As far as aftershave splashes it's really top notch and it stays with you almost all day. Also it doesn't tend to skunk in the way Clubman Pinaud does, and it smells a little more sophisticated.

Stirling has a Barbershop scented shave soap too that's perfect in my opinion. Check that out if you don't want the cologne scent as much in your soap.

Man thank you so much for all that. I love drakkar believe it or not and so does my wife. I'm 26 and buddies tease me for liking those scents lol. Hey I like them so that's what matter. Stirling is in my top 3 for shave soap quality, I use their sharp dressed man, I had no idea they had one that smells like drakkar. I must buy now!! Haha

Only The Chosen wear Pinaud's Lilac Vegetal. I won't describe it, let the detractors do that. Clubman Special Reserve has been called "What Indiana Jones would wear." It's a leather & tobacco scented AS/cologne with decent staying power. Clubman, and Canoe (by Dana) are traditional barbershop's.
If you are budget minded try antique/thrift stores & flea markets for Avon products. Full bottles can be purchased for cheap - $2-$5. Check them before you buy to be sure they contain what the label says. I like Wild Country, Bravo, & Leather. The one called Oland has a reputation for going rancid. The oils used may turn funny.
Because societal tastes change, Florida Water may not be to your liking. It's floral and to me smells a bit like Coca-Cola. If you don't like it, your daughter might. Century old formulas high alcohol content makes it a great AS. Apparently it's also used in Voodoo rituals.

A resource for knowing what makes aftershaves, colognes, and the like smell they way they do; basenotes

Quarum, Halston Z-14, Obsession can be found at discount stores if you're budget minded. I pay $25-45 for Aramis Gentleman Collection EDT's ( Havana, Tuscany, Devin, Aramis) online. Those are all powerhouses. Be judicious if you try them. I still wear Old Spice and get likes. Canoe, British Sterling, and English Leather still have their day once in awhile. Santos, Declaration both by Cartier, Guerlain Vetiver, Givenchy Gentleman, and Terre d'hermes are all regulars in my rotations.
My six year old grandson loves my Aqua Velva and Mennen Skin Bracer and gets his dabs of Dzia Dzia's aftershave.
My suggestion is to find a scent that you and yours really like and wear it more often than others. Happy hunting.

IMO my two girls (wife and daughter) like the fresher more vibrant scents. The old scents from yesteryear were cool, but times have changed. Embrace florals, uplifting feel good smells.

I have vivid memories of smelling Aqua Velva, Brut Aftershave and the spray deodorant, Colgate foam, and Stetson in my parents' medicine cabinet as a kid. I think Aqua Velva is my favorite. When I was in grade school, I used to splash some on before going to school.

Old Spice, is a good one, but picking a favorite bay rum is a good choice also. Bay rum is a distinct classic that I don't believe is popular with millennials or Generation X. There are a lot of different bay rums but none of the nuances overshadow the distinctive bay rum fragrance.

Funny I can't even stand the thought of Drakaar and Polo Green, when I was in middle/high school when those came out and I swear there wasn't a male on this earth that wasn't wearing them.

I would recommend checking out my thread on "your top aftershave splashes"

Any aftershave by pinaud, Brut, old spice, tabac, musgo real, any aftershave from Avon, fine aftershaves, lucky tiger, truefitt and hill (multiple scents), Taylor of old bond Street (multiple scents)

Your easiest method would be to go to your local drug store or Walmart and sniff test Brut, old spice, aqua velva, and pinaud clubman.

A very cheap way to go would be to buy an Avon lot on eBay (make sure they aren't empty). The Avon scents are old school, strong, last forever, and they hold copious amounts of aftershave (usually at least twice what other AS containers hold)

If you want very classy and old school, go for fine, musgo real, Taylor of old bond Street, and truefitt and hill. They cost a bit more...but the quality is apparent.

youngunn Where's my TSD aftershave balm???

I think a classy more mature scent doesn't have to be old man smelling. Take for instance Hermes Terre d'Hermes, a very nice scent that is earthy with a hint of sweetness. Also Tom Ford. Almost anything from Tom Ford. I especially like Tom Ford Noir Extreme right now. Great cold weather scent. Has tobacco notes. Viktor Roff Spicebomb is another oriental spice scent that is very nice.

I enjoy Taylor of old bond streets jermyn Street (which is a type of fougere) and truefitt and Hill's 1805 scent. They are a great examples of an up to date masculine scent

I chuckled at that one. I wore Drakkar when I was a teenager. I do use the Stirling Green on occasion and like it. It isn't too overpowering, and my wife likes it.
