I'm a huge Andy Griffith Show fan. I've always wondered, what do you think was used at Floyd's Barbershop?

I don't know, probably Clubman, but this is me getting a trim in Floyd's Barber Shop in Mt. Arie, NC, the town Mayberry was patterned after.

 

I read that Andy Griffith grew up there and went to that barber shop.

 

Yeah, there is a whole Andy Griffith/Mayberry industry in the town. There is even the Andy Griffith Museum.

This is me playing checkers with Otis. I almost won.

 

Might be worth a trip, less than two hours away.

 

We have a store in Mt. Airy, I should go visit!

The wife and I had a great time. I had just gotten a haircut a couple of days earlier, but they guy offered a trim for free. I couldn't pass that up. He shaved around my ears and the back of my neck. It was a lot of fun.

 

I remember an episode where Andy came out of Floyd's and Aunt B's friend said she could smell his witch hazel after his haircut/shave.

 

There appears to be a bottle of pinaud lime sec behind the register.

 

The bottle top looks off, maybe the old glass ones had squared caps.

 

I am guessing a brush of talcum powder on the back of the neck, then Witch Hazel on the jowls followed by a splash of Pinaud Clubman. Love the Andy Griffith show. They just don't make TV shows like that anymore.
