Just received this razor recently, and have gotten incredibly close, smooth, and great shaves from it, loaded with a Derby Extra blade. The price is nice, just under $25.00 to $26.00 depending on where purchased. What I've found is this razor is rather heavy in weight, but exhibits an nice balance when holding it in my hand. The shave strokes seemed to move by themselves... very nice glide to this model. The faceted handle, along with its knurling, makes for a very solid, comfortable, and non-slip grip, and it's easy to hold. Shaving seemed just a bit more agressive that say my 1945 Techs, but absolutely no irritation. A simple and quick 3-pass shave resulted in wonderful, smooth outcome. I recommed this Merkur model for those who have their technique polished a bit, and for someone looking to upgrade their 'beginner-type' razor.
Merkur 1904 My first modern DE. Excellent grip however the handle is a tad short. FYI the razor is not really a Gillette 1904 handle style. Three pieces are the way to go. Simple is best.
