Must admit....never seen one and don't think I recall hearing about this razor. One small suggestion, if I may, for future video reviews: In the first 3-4 minutes I just saw a split second view of the razor. Kinda wish you had the camera on the razor turning it around, showing it during the first 5 minutes so that I really got a sense of it. Once it was shown I still didn't get a sense of the handle, length etc as it wasn't shown very clearly for the first 5 minutes But, loved it and thanks for posting
This is the razor that was advertised by Rick from "Pawn Stars". Had heard it is made in China by Weishi. At $19.99 retail (includes a few cheap blades) overpriced IMHO. Can do much better on Ebay. Picked up a Weishi for my dad for $8.99 shipped and he loves it.
Thanks for the video. I got one of these on eBay for $8.98 shipped. www.ebay.com/itm/251532514455?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 It came from China and took a couple of weeks. It came with Dorco blades. I have yet to try the Dorcos. I was interested and thought that for nine bucks it was worth a shot. I can give it away to a newbie at some point.
Jayaruh, thanks. About the Dorco blades, I should have mentioned, but they are horrible, IMO. I do I think, however, the MT1 is a good newby razor.
When I received mine, I popped an Astra SP in it and just shaved my right cheek. It was a successful test. However, I have not done a full shave with it yet. I will be changing razors on Friday, and I decided that I will do a 10 day rotation with the MicroTouch One. Your video was instrumental in that decision. Thanks again. And, I will stay away from the Dorcos.
Pawn Stars is a total rip off. Here's how asking them for change would play out. Customer: Rick, can you break a dollar? Rick: Well the best I can do is 65 cents.
The Microtouch was my first DE. Ironically I haven't touched it since I obtained my first vintage Gillette lol
Therein lies the greatness of the whole Microtouch thing. There will be a lot of new wet shavers because of the media exposure not to mention the fact that all of a sudden a DE razor is at Walmart. Regardless of any of the pros or cons of this particular razor, more wet shavers can only benefit us. I think the Microtouch is a good thing and I don't even own one.
This is pretty much my view. I was in Walmart a few months before my local one started carrying the MT1. I was in the shaving aisle, and there was a guy and his son, obviously looking for his first razor. The father and son were sort of grumbling back and forth, in a good natured way, about the cost of cart heads. I struck up a conversation with them about DEs. Almost had him, too, until the words "online" and "ebay" escaped my mouth. If I had been able to steer them straight to the aisle where the MT1 was it might have been a different story. I hope Walmarts sells countless thousands of them. I hope people learn about true wetshaving. I hope they are curious, and come to the forums. I hope they upgrade, and are afflicted with half a dozen ADs. I hope so.
I got to agree with you,,,I get a pretty darn good shave with mine. The test of time will be the key factor in judging the quality of the razor....
Slight veer off topic but I am always amazed but some peoples hesitance to use eBay or any other online vendor. The only thing that comes close to instant gratification is the feeling of Christmas when UPS drops a package at the door.
Weishi has been around for awhile, and the quality of their razors gets better all the time. I read somewhere they're using old Gillette machinee to manufacture these. They had problematic razors with the 2004 series when they were still using poor materials, but with the 9306's they seem to have it dialed in pretty good.
