It's kind of my own tradition to put this up around this time. I dug this when it first made the scene in the '50's...It had a profound affect on me..lol.... So like the cat said, "A Cool Christmas to all and, like, all of that Jazz"
EXCELLO! LIKE COOL DADDY-O! NOW THAT JOLLY OL' MAN HAD A WHOLE LOTTA' SOUL! THANKS FOR THAT POSTING, NOW I ALSO MUST SCAT! AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO LLOYD, A REAL COOL HEP CAT!
Well It's That Time of Year.....Time to dust this chestnut off and BUMP It for all you hipsters and hipettes...
I can dig it Bird Lives! I really enjoyed it! Thanks and I hope Santa brings you a new horn this Christmas.
Merry Christmas, Daddy-O! If you find yourself in Denver in 2017, let me know. I'd love to take you to see a jazz set at El Chapultepec, a Denver jazz dive bar. Neal Cassidy and Jack Kerouac liked to drink there. It's been in business since the 30s, back when hipsters were still hepcats.
I see every Generation had their losers; Hipsters (Actually carried Hip flasks, thus hipster) Greasers Beatniks Hippies Punks Skater Kids Millenials Hipsters again (No idea what a hip flask is, thus double down losers) Etc...
Beats were mocked in film, like this scene from High School Confidential (1958). Nine years later the middle/upper class was mocked in The Graduate with one word, "Plastics".
And, with every generation of anti-establishment losers, comes an epiphany: time to grow up, and get a real job, to become a responsible, and productive member of society. Those that refuse to get it, grow up, or get sober, become a drain on everyone around them. Be it financially, or emotionally. Some though, but rarely, find their niche, and are able to make a good living, and remain toned down hippies Just some ramblings, from a 55 yr old "Square", who has seen it all, because of my work.
