Last night, after my shave with my new Weishi Adjustable was kind of a bust due to poor blade alignment, I went back to my old standby: my Weishi Long Handle. Great shave, as always. I may give my Weishi a rest for a bit. I recently picked up a couple of my birth year Gillettes: '80 Flare Tip and a Slim Twist from England.
I’m benching my Weishi & Baili for a while also. I have a new razo rock OC from @jimjo1031 and adjustable August is here so my Black Beauty is on deck. Then SE September- got a contour and a push-button I’ve been missing. Then it’s back to my new OC for October. I’m sure I’ll go off the rails here and there because the variety and novelty of everything is part of what I enjoy. But that’s my very loose plan.
Tell me more about the Weishi adjustable. I saw one on eBay and I almost bought, but I haven’t heard anything about so I let it go by.
It's basically the Parthenon head on a Weishi Long Handle handle. It kind of has a loose fit between the handle, base plate and doors, so it's easy for the blade to be misaligned. It looks like it doesn't have the tabs on the hinges that the standard Weishi does that keeps it aligned, so that may be the issue.
1955 was a good year for Flare Tips. I really like my Red Tip. It shaves under my nose perfectly. Clayton Sent from my LG-K450 using Tapatalk
first use with my user grade # 58 aristocrat jr. nice shave. still would like a mint one but this was affordable and works as it should...
I had a great shave with my '80 Gillette Super Speed last night. Id almost forgetten what a great shave those old Super Speeds can give you.
Some thoughts on the red tip since I've recently shaved with it and have been evaluating it along with other razors. This razor I think straddles the line between mild and aggressive. It can punish your face under certain circumstances like an aggressive razor but at the same time it can also shave like a mild shaver with no irritation and really close shaves in both cases.
