Military Coup in Turkey

    It looks like there's a military coup currently occurring in Turkey. I'll have to tune in the BBC news at 5:00

    Apparently the Turkish military has a tradition of keeping the government in check, to keep it secular and prevent "president for life" types ruling the country. It's the third coup since WWI when Atatürk started remodelling Turkey towards being a western and secular national state.
    That's what I've gathered from reading different titbits here and there on the web this evening...
