Alright ladies and gents, I'm getting the RAD itch bad. I don't know if you all remember my poor Cadet 27 that died in the line of duty (may it shave in peace) but it was my only modern razor. I'm thinking about getting a modern shaver but am having problems deciding. Do I go with Muhle? Merkur? Parker? Cadet? The options are so open, all of them? Half of them? Sound off and help this dapper dilemma.
I've been seeing good things on it. I am also putting slants into the equation as well. Maybe Ikon? Oh man, the decisions.
Ikon Shavecraft Tech, the thinking man's aggressive razor. Great fit and finish, and IMHO a better shave than the R41.
I have no complaints at all with the Merkur 3-piece razors and I think they're a reasonable price for what you get too.
Well - you asked for it ... so get all the iconic ones - Merkur Progress, 15c, 34c and 37c, Mühle R89 and R41, maybe an Ikon since they are on sale now . All great razors Did that help?
maggard claims theirs are,,,,,,,, but their just being humble. noggin wrong with a maggard razors. futur is neat progress classic elegance Ikon is on sale cobra and mongoose top the high dollar bunch Muhle another classic feather, above the tie, pils? out of action Weber cadet Matador tradere
Dang... haven't seen you for ages, Dude! Welcome back. As I understand, EJ are way cheaper in US than Mühle and I can't help but love my EJ head. So for a budget option, I'd choose that route. Fatip has a closed comb and open comb line. Cheap as well, but prolly not the same QC as EJ/Mühle.
I just recently purchased a Shavecraft 102 Slant and this is my recommendation for sure. I have many razors and for the money you can't beat it unless you go zamak (which I personally detest).
I agree with the Ikon 102 slant. I have two Ikon razors, the 101 and the 102, and they are both really nice. IMHO the 102 far exceeds all of my other modern or vintage razors for comfort, closeness, ease-of-use, and looks. And I believe they're on sale right now.
Also, don't let the slant nature of the 102 scare you. It doesn't twist the blade like most slants. Instead, as you can see in my pic above, the head is tilted, but the blade is straight in the head.
