Monsavon Bol à Raser is a French Tallow based soap. Packaging: 5/10 It comes in a plastic tub, it does the job. Ease of lathering: 9/10. Very easy to lager, I used a Boar and Silvertip and had no issues. General skincare: 9/10 HERES where Monsavon Bol à Raser shines!I shaved my face and head, both were very moisturized and silky smooth all day and night. I didn't have to put a balm on my head as I normally do. Slickness:9/10 The blade felt as though it was gliding across my face. On my touch ups I didn't add soap just water and the blade again glided over my face with ease. Scent: 3/10 This isn't that soap that's going to draw you in solely on scent. It's a clean citrusy scent. Not very strong. This soap would be great for those who have sensitive skin. But it's a soap for everyone to. Price: 8/10 $8.50 for a 4.41 ounce tub is a great price for a soap of the quality. Would I buy again: 10/10 Absolutely! This soap outshines many soap that are 2-3 times in price.
Nice review. I've always been curious about Monsavon. It has been around forever and is dirt cheap in France but never took off like other French shave soaps. It used to be made by Sara Lee, but I see Unilever has it now.
great review. I wonder if they were formulated? I tried it several years ago and was totally unimpressed. I found it difficult to lather as well.
it is a good soap; very easy to lather, good cushion and glide. I like to think of it as the "poor man's" mdc. scent to me seems like lavender and rosemary (?). also available from uk on amazon.
I have my fair share of *ADs but thankfully SAD is not one of them - otherwise I think this would be one I'd want to try out sooner than later. I find myself being rather 'boring' as far as soaps goes...50% of the time I simply use Klar Kabinnet, Soap Commander or i Coloniali.
Sounds like a great soap. I'll have to keep it in mind. Those are boring soaps? I've heard great things about those soaps but have yet to try them.
