The Flare Tip is an excellent razor. It was the lone razor I used for a couple of years before switching over to SEs recently. I had a Lord L5 at the time- a more aggressive and closer shaver but it was ignored in favor of the SS. It's smoother and the TTO is just so much more convenient and the build quality is better than most of todays razors.
The vintage Gillette Super Speed razors are wonderful. If you do not have one, get one. The Super Speeds are reasonable priced on the Inet.
Big fan of the Super Speeds but my absolute favorite is the Fat Handle Tech. For my money, you cannot beat a vintage Gillette razor. Way better than anything currently being made, IMO.
I "VERY" much agree with "LookingGlass" and "Dude".... either a "Fat Handle" or "Ball End" tech 3 piece and at least one SuperSpeed TTO are must haves in any collection..
Love both my 40's style and 1965 Superspeeds. Go-to razors. Super smooth shave and clean classic lines.
I love the super speeds ! I have from the 40's through the late 50's and happen to have a 57' as well. It is a 1957 flair tip I had replated in rhodium. Great shaver a bit mild, but great as a daily driver though as far as super speeds I love my 56' red tips.
Love my 1957 c2. Was made before my parents were even born, and I find I use it more frequently than my merkur HD, which I also love.
