I know I'm a bit behind on posting this but, better late then never. Christmas morning after my kids and wife opened all their gifts my wife passes me one last gift. I'm thinking what could this be? I unwrap to find a small box with postal address that reads Bulgaria. Now I'm really thinking what the heck did she get me from there. As I open the box I see the shiny gleam from the top of a double edge razor. I instantly knew what kind it was. A Gillette Super Adjustible (Black Beauty). Then I read the engraving C4. I had done my research on this razor before without any luck finding one. I was born November of 82 and this razor was made in that same year and in that same quarter. I now have my birth razor and its in such great shape. It shaves awesomely and I love it. Mrs. Badger you rock. I am very happy with this gift and it has become my go to razor.
Congrats, I also picked up my birth year(82 as well) and quarter Black Beauty a few months ago. a C2. I have yet to shave with it, but just having it in my collection makes me happy
I agree with just having it in the collection but, it gives a really good shave. I have a black beauty from 72 or 74 or some time as well. It's conditions not as nice and I didn't care that much for using it. I don't know what the difference is other the. The under plate in the 70s one being metal and the 82 is plastic,
Lucky man. My wife never bought me a razor. She has acquired a few, from my collection, for herself though. That makes me happy too.
Ahh But does your wife BARROW your favorite razor and forget to replace the blade? Realizing that someone (I'll not say who) used your razor while making your first excruciating nicked stroke at your morning shave. Even though I bought her own DE she still likes to share. But all was forgiven after the face nursing, the back rub and her wonderful meat loaf dinner followed by her homemade cheese cake. Now there is sign in her closet-"Use Hubbies Razor, Replace Blade"
I let her keep what she wants, and replace the blades when she needs them changed. I bought her a couple of Lady Gillette Starburst razors, and she loves these. The raiding has stopped, so far.
