*sigh* I just got through patching my ethernet cable that my my wonderful 5 1/2 month old puppy pictured in my avatar just took a bite out of. Apparently, I'm torturing him by having him locked in the other room. Sometimes, there is only so much basset hound howling you can take.
I see how it is...... Cuteness always triumphs...... Dog eats my internet, gets in trouble, and he's a poor little guy...... As for the Avatar, that's his "I'm ready!" face.
My brother had a Bassett named Oscar. I never realized how large they got until I met him. He was about 70lbs with a very low center of gravity. Be happy you got off with just a patch cord. About 9 yrs ago when my chihuahua/terrier mix was a puppy, she jumped up on my desk via the chair and carried my glasses case down 3 flights of stairs, gnawed on the case until it opened. There she chewed both temples off my prescription glasses. I think that might have been the only time I had ever wanted to literally kill my dog.
A good friend of mine had a lab that ate the wipers of his truck and the wires off his tail lights and trailer wiring kit.
I think my Basset, Kirby is going to be on the small side, he's about 30 pounds right now and there is a lot of variation with the breed (He was the runt when I got him). I'm just glad he didn't chew through a wire that would hurt him. Now that's just insane.
You can call it that, until they just won't stop. He also likes to bark at the cats. Doesn't hurt them, just stands there and barks at them. He wants to play I guess. My parents have a border collie puppy a few months older than he is. I take him over there to play a few times a week to play there since we live close by. It's funny to watch him my dog try and chase my parents with his short little legs and big floppy ears. He loves to run, but I don't think there is any way he can not look funny doing it.
Living in an apartment makes it difficult to have a dog. I have had Bassets, they are a great breed of dogs, they have such great personalities.
My son brought home a dog that chewed through the Direct TV cable once. I feel yer pain. Still have Direct TV. The dog is gone.
we had 3 Bassets at the same time many years ago.. boy could they sing! plus, the old guy next door would start howling along with them he thought it was fun. at least he didn't complain about the singing.
