Dudes - I recently bought a DE as per below. Feather AS-D2. My setup today was:-

    Chemicals
    TOBS Avocado
Truefitt & Hill West Indian Limes Balm

    Mechanicals
Feather AS-D2 DE Razor with Feather DE Blade
    Edwin Jagger Best Badger
Japanese Suribachi bowl (7 bucks from my local Japanese dept. store.....)

Boy ho boy are these blades sharp. It seriously felt like I was not shaving at all - super light pressure and the whiskers just fell off. 1 WTG and 2 ATG and some small touch-ups. My top lip hasn't been this clean since before I came of age....

Not wishing to plug any one site BUT I bought it from Massdrop and IF you use this link I get some points so come on and sign up. They are selling them again at a brilliant $134.99!!

The bowl was the bargain I was looking for and whips up the lather real good with those ridges on it. The DE - $134.99 is a great discount. I am no expert but this thing will last forever.

@Vlasta congratulations! A cherry no longer!
Sounds like it went really well. But for the price of the razor, after you're done does a little guy pop out and pat the after shave on ya?

That is probably the most expensive and most high-class first shave I gave ever heard of...but you look far too young to shave ;)

How does the Feather AS-D2 compare to the fat handle Tech?

About $120 more expensive. The tech is a great shaving razor!

What, you spent $15 for a tech? WHY? I think I spent $20 with shipping for my two 1932 Canadian fat handles :)

I donot think I own a fat handle tech. I was guessing a clean cased one like the pic is worth $15-$20. Yours were both cased and clean?

No, no case, but they are pristine. They shave great. With case, they tend to go for idiot sums. (Well, when you include shipping, which I do). Often the fat handles in case go for more than NEW in case.

I'm still interested in learning folk so does anyone own both a Feather and a nice old Tech? How do the two compare?
