It arrives. I finally have a Gold Tech. Actually, I bought it because of its shiny gold color. It came with an original(?) case. Its color has faded on several place. How to fix this? I will soaked this Tech with a hot water and a dish soap. Will use alcohol to sanitize it. I am glad that I got this. Brasso is on my next thing to buy so I can polish this razor. Anyone has ever use Brasso before?
I've used Brasso before, but not on razors. It's too harsh and will eventually remove the plating. You are better off going with Maas, Flitz or Silvo.
Very nice! Just an observation, your mentioning of your .com plastered right in the middle of each picture takes away from the focus of the razor. You may want to add it to the corner using a smaller font? Just tooooooooooo loud for my liking. FWIW.
Be careful of any metal polish. That razor is gold washed, and the gold can come off easily. I know, trust me, I've done it, and messed up a couple. No big deal, because I replated them, myself, in nickel, anyway. What you might be seeing is the lacquer, that is discolored. This is common. I've seen several people use Easy Off Oven Cleaner to take the lacquer off, without hurting the gold wash.
Now that I see them on my phone, they indeed are way too big. I should edit them again tomorrow. But I will not post it here, as it will be a redundant?
Oh yes. I liked your website! Well done and thought out. I can see why you are doing it judging from your comments many of your readers/friends had no idea about DE shaving.
You're right. I am a wet shaving Evangelist trying to convert people to DE wet shaving as much and as fast as I can. I haven't tried straight, so no convert to there. Thank you for your kind words.
The gold plating on these is VERY thin. DO not polish it up with brasso, or anything harsh. Gold does not tarnish. Originally, they were spray coated with a shellac to preserve the gold finish. Over time, the shellac usually breaks down and wears off, and the plating rapidly wears through. If your plating is in good shape, you may want to consider spraying it with either shellac or polyurethane to preserve what you have.
Nice razor. Cap'n Murphy on B&B uses Maguiars All Metal polish, works just fine and doesn't appear to hurt the plating.
