So there I was, at work on Friday last, sportin the M&L Rose Cologne. So this guy is sniffing around and asks me, "You smell that?" to which I reply, "Smell what?" He says, "It smells like...roses or maybe woman's cologne." "It's probably me," I reply. He laughs, thinking I'm joking and walks up to me and does another sniff check. He then says, "What is that? Are you sure it's for men?" I tell him what it is and explain that it comes form an era when cologne was cologne. It's unisex kinda like Calvin Klein. He proceeds to poke a little light hearted fun at my expense. Later in the day we're out on our afternoon break and he says, "Where do you get that stuff? Is it expensive? I'd like to buy some." I gave him a steer and remind ed him how he was clowning me earlier. To which he replied, "It's not really a smell you would associate with modern men's cologne (citing the dusky, musky smell) but it does smell great and seems to last quite well. I'll have to get some and give it a try."
Yep, it’s the same old story… Boy meets guy who wears rose cologne, boy pokes fun at guy who wears rose cologne, boy buys same rose cologne and wears it himself. It’s the circle of life all over again.
What is a good vendor for Florida Water and Rose Water or M&L Rose Cologne? I'd like to try these? Any places have samples?
Looked all over for Murray and Lanman stuff locally and and had no luck so I went straight to their website and ordered it direct from the company. Dirt cheap and real good stuff http://www.lanman-and-kemp.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=5_3&products_id=28
I found Florida Water and Rose Water at CVS for about $3-4. Also 1OldGI may be interested to know that I found a glycerin and rose water mix there as well.
Ironically, I've scoured every place I could and was unsuccessful in finding Florida Water available locally...IN FLORIDA :happy102 Direct from the company via the website is what I've found works best. Cool soaps and stuff there too. It's also on my list of stuff to do to find out if their Florida Water soap will work as a shave soap. They also have Sandalwood, Rose and Patchouli. Again though, those are marketed as body soaps and I don't know how well (or poorly) they would work as shave soaps. If they fail miserably no sweat, I'll just finish off the bar in the shower.
I stopped by CVS on my lunch break and found an open bottle of Florida Water. I think I'm in love. I had to tear myself away from smelling it over and over again. Do you use it as an aftershave or strictly a cologne? I'm sure you already know that JoAnna offers a Florida Water scented soap, right?
Normally, I guess I use it as a cologne (Witch Hazel as an aftershave as not to muck up the potency of the FW). For some reason, seems to work better in the spring/summer for me so it's in my spring/summer rotation. As a side note, when I have large quantities of it on hand I normally add a teaspoon or so to my sink water. SWMBO also reports that it's great stuff to dump in bath water too. The TSD Florida Water soap is indeed on the scope but if I find out that the other FW soap works as a shave soap, a dozen bars can be had for $9 (OK, so I'm a frugal SOB!) and as I said, if not, I use it for shower soap, the TSD for shave soap and follow up both with a large splash of the cologne.
Update: I ended up PIFing the guy a bottle. He says he often wears it when he takes his wife out because she really digs it and the...uh...results are usually pretty impressive. Score one for the good guys. BTW, I was rockin the Murray and Lanman's Rose Cologne today. At lunch I drove down to my hole in the wall Mexican grocery store and scored two bottles of Florida Water. One for the shave cave and the other for my bride's bathroom (for use in bath water (she also applies it to the Grand kids when they visit and are sick, have mosquito bits, need to relax, etc.) I don't know if it's good for that kind of stuff or not, I leave the hoodoo up to her. For me, it's a damn fine fragrance, not to mention affordable too.
After reading this and other threads for the Murray and Lanman's Florida Water, I decided I had to have some too. I also went to the local Mexican grocery store (IGA in Mulberry, FL) and scored a 7.5oz bottle for $3.95 including tax. This stuff really smells great! Interestingly enough, according to my research, the Florida Water is also used in certain occult ceremonies...
Just go a bottle of Florida Water today in the mail. Nice smelling stuff. I am pleased. Wife doesn't mind it either which is nice.
Hello! I know I'm a little late with this topic, but I met it only now! Got here chasing Murray and Lanman's Rose Cologne! I have a question... apart the Mexican grocery store (IGA in Mulberry, FL) anyone know where I can find it in Jensen Beach, FL? I did read it seems impossible to retrieve it in Florida, but since that has been posted, maybe things changed! And... what is CVS? Sorry but not familiar with this store. Thank you, Gentleman!
