Hello everyone, sorry I have not been on much at all. I wanted to update you all on what I am learning so far. I have been using a Gillette Tech, Redbox IP blades...or Derby's, VDH deluxe or Williams soap and a Tweezerman or Ever Ready synthetic knot brush.

I have really been onjoying my shaves. I do have a question though, should I stick with a razor, blade, brush, soap combo to learn and build a technique....or should I play around with different setups?

We was just talking about you the other day, wondering where you went. :)

My advice would be to stick with what you have now for at least a month, or until you are sure your technique is down pat. Maybe change out the blade brand if you feel the one you are using now is pulling and tugging right from the get go with a new blade.

If after say a month you feel like you can do it blind folded, then you have a good base to try experimenting with, and you will then know when you try something new whether or not it works for you. Then it won't be a question of whether or not its you, or your new gear.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Sticking with the same "gear" and learning technique just makes sense.

I would agree with Bill here... as usual. The Williams is a good soap so if it is working well keep at it. The first thing I would change would be the blade when you felt you wanted to branch out some. There is a whole world of good stuff out there.. but you never get past good technique no matter what you use.

I gotta agree with the others on this one.
