My 3rd brush from Vie-Long but my 1st White Horse
As you can see has no similarity with that Boar that some turkish sellers represent as "Horse" brush.
I haven't test it yet in my face, still is in the preparation stage [white vinegar soluble plus 2 times bowl lathering as a start before touches my skin]
The bristles are much more softer than other Horse brushes from Vie-Long,those who look "red"
There is no "birds nest" effect yet,no smell and does not bloom easily.
Soon i will post photos from the "official" bowl lather test to see how it performs.

Very nice. I ended up pulling the trigger on another Horse. my first one was nice but to small. Yeah these do not seem to knot up like the Brown ones do.

Great looking brush. I just ordered my first horse, a Vie-Long 12705...35/65 blend. Can't wait to try it out.

I am glad we have Vie-Long. With out them most of us won't be using horse brushes. I think they are great.

I've got two of them in a maroon handle and I really like using them very soft

Good looking brush. Tomorrow I will try a white horse hair brush with a knot retrieved from a Virginia Sheng Chinese brush in the thread below.

I took my new brush, wash it 2 times,i make palm lather twice
I rinse it and the very next day i made the first test,i was disappointed, here are the photo from the second test:

Unfortunately there is the so called "birds nest" !
I didn't apply too much pressure,i was swirling the brush as i did with all my brushes
I don't like painting moves, those are for a finish work just before the blade starts working.
The volume of the falling water isn't the maximum but still the knot can't resist.
I am not happy, the knot is soft with no good backbone, even a Lijun Silvertip looks better than this brush.Soon i will post bowl lather photos, there looks good but when the real job began this brush has only few things to show.

Same issues with the one I got from Virgina Sheng that I transplanted into a vintage brush. They look so good at first ...

Sorry to see that. My Turkish #6 Horse hair does the typical open knot for a Horse hair brush but doesn't collapse like that. Have you contacted the supplier. It may be an issue they were unaware of.

In the beginning nothing seems bad, that's why i say that bowl lather photos are good for "show"

After few swirling moves in my face
The knot starts to open for what we called as "bird's nest" although i say it "grenade effect"

This is after the towel drying procedure

This brush is good only for paintings moves which i don't like them at all as a part of main shave
I didn't bought a brush having in my mind that i can't use it for swirling.

    :signs131:

    It's a Boar brush that's why
I have it plus other 3 turkish Boars
Can not compare them with this Vie-Long Horse.

And apart your statement do you have actual DNA evidence that Turkish brushes are Boar? If you do have definite evidence then I have 2 Boar brushes however if you don't and it is based solely on hearsay then perhaps you need to reconsider your position on these brushes. Either way I don't really know personally except the two Turkish brushes are absolutely nothing like my Boar brush. I am sorry you seem to have a less than satisfactory Horse hair brush.

The thing is you're definitely not supposed to swirl a horse hair brush.. hence the birds nest you got. I've been using my 12705B by swirling the tips only and using paint strokes to apply and had zero problems

I am disheartened by your experience with your brush. I suspect the finer mane hairs are too flexible to hold their shape. My experience has been different, but my brush has 65% tail hair. I think that makes a difference. I wonder if the Turkish brushes are mostly tail hair, which might be why people think they're actually boar brushes.

I thought the hairs on mine had split but there is no splitting on mine. Old eyes. They may very well be tail but I cannot say. They are not overly stiff though. When you lather with them they have a definite hole in the centre of the knot that disappears when the brush is dry. It doesn't affect the lather though.
