Old Spice or Wife? That’s the choice I face. How did I get to this dilemma? Let me explain. Last October my father (87 years) died. Going through his medicine cabinet I found a glass bottle of Old Spice. Not the older type but still glass and I suppose the old “smell.” The other day I put on my Old Spice. (This is the cheap Old Spice you by in the drugstores in the plastic bottles). My wife walked by and said, “Is that your father’s Old Spice? If so, it’s bad.” I told my wife that it was Old Spice I just recently bought. She told me to throw it away. “It’s not Old Spice.” My wife’s father was an Old Spice man and my wife grew up with that smell. She loved it! So now I have to throw away the cheap Old Spice I bought! I posted a thread some type back asking about the best “imitation” Old Spice” and many of you said, why go with an “imitation?” Stay with the original. But to save the marriage, I have to go with an “imitation” Old Spice. So how is TSD “Old Spice” A/S and cologne? Are there any new and better copies? I’m wondering about Mamma Bear and St. Charles. p.s. I didn’t throw away the Old Spice. I just threw it in the trunk of my car. Some things you just can’t throw away :happy102
I don't get it, growing up my dad used it occasionally and I recieved the spice as gifts as a teenager. I also have a bottle I picked up at Walmart last year, I can't smell the difference.
I find the Old Spice sold today (from P&G) somewhat different from the Shulton version sold some time ago. I don't really like it so much, however: There is a P&G version of Old Spice which is called Old Spice Classic, which is VERY, VERY close to the Shulton version, and for me would be an acceptable substitute.
Seems like most local drugstores (cvs etc.) carry their own private label version of Old Spice. You should try a few of those as well. I tend to like most of them, though they have subtle differences.
Hmmmmm Can't decide. Is it a full bottle? Please post picture of the Old Spice. (Sorry, old Texas joke)
To me the difference is the new version has a "baby powder" note to it. Once I had them side by side, it was pretty pronounced.
Not saying to kick her out on the street, but may be take her with you and let her pick what she feels is the closet thing to what she wants you to smell like, but I do believe that the P&G old spice is weaker and not as long lasting then the true type. Since I'm still young I do try and impress the girls and I've always believe that if they can link yourself to someone they like... Dad or Grandfather... you have a better chance with them.
