Good evening. New to the forum. Just thought I would check out the art of shaving and how to get good shaves. I came across the Van Der Hagen at target and gave it a whirl. Eventually I will get something nicer once I know how to shave correctly.
Welcome @Houdini5150! That's a decent starter razor ya got there. It's engineered like a vintage Gillette Flare Tip. While the razor should give a comfortable mild shave with a little practice, I'd seek out better blades than the VDH brand from the same store. If you can find the generic store brand labeled blades made in Israel they are Personna Reds. Still not the best, but better than the Ice Tempered VDH. Did you purchase soap or a brush?
Welcome to the Den! You've already gotten some great advice from @RyX. Stay away from the VDH blades. You might want to check out Bed, Bath & Beyond, they carry Wilkinson Sword Classic blades. That VDH razor you have was my gateway razor. It will give good service with the right blade. Then you get to become infected with the various Aquisition Disorders(AD's) that accompany this thing of ours. Enjoy!
Welcome to The Shave Den! I'm glad you're here! Check out the 30 Day Rule/Focus. It's a great place to start, and everyone is welcome to join anytime!
Good advice about the VDH blades...for a while, that's all I could get from my local grocery store. Then I came here and got ruined for life, but my shaves are no longer the chore I used to see them as.
