Nationwide Box Tour 2013

Hello TSD family it is time to announce the Nationwide Box Tour for 2013. The 2012 Tours were a rousing success. I'm beginning to take names of those that want to participate in the first trip of​

2013 for the box. Keep in mind that postage for box will be around $17.00, I do not have the new postal rates.​

Guidelines:​

​

1}Please post your interest in participating in this thread ONLY.​

​

2}Send me a PM with your name, address, phone number, and your e-mail address.​

​

3}I'm complying the list, as soon a enough members sign-up, I will do my best to arrange the names in the a geographical order . So the box will flow the best way.​

​

4} I will post a picture of it contents, organize it, place in the correct size flat rate USPS box, then it will go to the first person.​

​

5}Once the box arrives to you, please post a picture of the contents and also a picture of what you are placing into the box.​

​

6}Send the box on its way.​

​

7}Repeat steps 5&6, until the box arrives at the last person.​

​

Lastly a few last words.​

​

1} When placing contents into the box, place in a baggie with your name and date, the contents. This is important because things do leak and spill.​

​

2} Please place shave related items in the box or items that would interest the TSD members.​

Please keep junk out of the box. Restore-able straight razors are not junk, nor are brush handles that can be re-knotted. This is not a junk box respect the other members receiving the box next.​

If something is leaking place in a new container.​

​

3}Common items such as Williams and VDH, should be avoided being placed in the box.​

​

4}Place a postcard of where you are from.​

​

If your concern is the value of what you remove vs the cost of shipping you probably won't want to participate. If you thinking that you can remove the cost of shipping in products you will mostly likely will be disappointed. Have fun with this foremost do not get hung up on the value.​

Looking for more participation for the Travel box 2013, join in the fun and excitement to open a box of shaving goods.

 

So, a box shows up to your house with tons of shaving stuff in it. Gives you a chance to try out different razors, blades, soaps, etc. After a couple days, you pack it back up adding extra stuff you have laying around and send it to the next gent? Am I wrapping my head around this right? Sounds sweet.

I'm in! I've had a blast with these in the past.

 

Yes the box is a large box filled with shaving goodies such as soaps, blades, razors, etc. You go through the box pick the items you want, post a picture, add items, pack up the box send it to the next person.

 

I'm in for another round! I have lots of goodies to put in (including that near-mythical BBQ Aftershave Lotion)

I'm on call 24/7 everyday but Christmas or I would play.. it would severely suck for the box to arrive and be scheduled to leave while I was stuck out of town

 

ATTENTION PLEASE ​

To all who are, or will choose to participate in the traveling box for this year.​

​

I am going to add a special subset activity to the box. This is going to be a special additional game.​

​

Many of you know that I have run a long term test of DE Blades in the past. You can view that testing here:​

Now many blades were tested here, but that was not all the blades I had to choose from. Many other blades did not get tested due to time constraints.​

So this contest will go as follows:​

​

I will receive the box first and will take and add as per the normal rules. Then the extra fun begins.​

​

I will make a special packet with a check off manifest. In this packet there will be 12 packs of Double Edge blades. 3 packs will have ten blades each and the remaining nine will have five blades each. All the blades are stainless steel. Some have special alloys and coatings. Two brand types are in current production and two brand types are around 50 years old.​

All of them are unwrapped NOS, so you know what that means... ​

Some of these were tested in the referenced thread and others were not.​

​

Now the game is really quite simple.​

​

1. I will, in addition to what I will exchange in the box, add this packet with the blades and manifest list and send it on to the next person in line.​

​

2. That person will open the packet and choose ONE AND ONLY ONE pack of blades.​

​

3. The recipient WILL NOT OPEN any of the remaining packs but will put them back in the packet and check off the pack that they chose on the manifest list.​

​

4. At this point, the recipient will share with the audience what blade type they picked and why, but NOT discuss or describe anything else about the remaining blades.​

So only discuss your choice!​

​

5. That person must then use one of the blades out of the pack to shave with and tell the group how it performs while in possession of the box.​

​

6. After their selection each recipient SHALL PM ME ONLY and provide the list of remaining blades before sending the box, with the mystery packet inside, along to the next recipient who will continue the game.​

​

7. Do not provide any information or PMs about the blades to anyone else so as not to spoil the surprise and ruin the game for the rest of the players. That keeps the mystery and makes it fun for each person who has drawn to know what the next person has to choose from.​

​

Some of these blades are highly coveted in the forums and on line. So here is your chance if you are one of the twelve who will get the box after me.​

​

Now remember, I will be checking for each persons PM identifying the remaining blades before the box is shipped forward.​

​

I think this will be a fun game to be played for each person that will be in line while the blades last. If you do not wish to participate in the blade game, simply send the packet on to the next person and state that you are not participating, but please give no additional information.​
