In the coming weeks I am going to thin the herd so I have been thinking about what I want to add... but I am in a quandary.

My preference is for smiling, large, heavy grind blades but I have a few hollow grinds that enjoy and shave great, Dovo Bismarck and Master's and Revisor all of which are 6/8. I once bought a beautiful TI that was 7/8 full hollow but flexed to much for me.

I am very curious about the full hollow bellied design Koraat is now producing, hoping that maybe a 7/8 might not flex for me and I can use it. I hate to spend money on a custom and then have to sell it because it flexes so I am considering a 'plain' 14 model and if it works sell it and the get a custom.

    On the other hand

The more I use my M. Martinez the more I enamored I become and he has a nice for sale now.

Help with my dilemma, which razor and why?

While my favorite is a big smiling, heavy grind I do enjoy variety. I do have a strong preference for modern razors, especially from the artisans. It is tempting to go with my 'favorite' but I already have several razors of this type. I do enjoy the change up to hollow grinds but I had one big one that would flex when I shaved so I am worried about dropping $$ for a big hollow Koraat and having it flex too.

Keith, that Koraat model 14 looks awesome and sounds like it would be a great razor.

Thinning a den is hard, but adding a Koraat sure would make the process easier.

I’m all on board with the 14. And maybe the double shoulder gives you the rigidity you like.

But you obviously have NO bad choices on that list. Thanks for letting us play :happy093:

I really like my Art Razors. This one has a smile and doesn't flex for me. I'd give them a look. [IMG]

I have no suggestions to offer that you haven’t already owned, I’m just waiting for your den clearing so I can scoop up another cast off or two.

Thanks but I’m looking for modern, the bellied hollow Koraat interest me because I had problems with big hollow grinds flexing. The M. Martinez is style I also enjoy.

Keep the input coming, I will decide next week.
