I am look for a all natural replacement shave cream now that Toms of Maine is being discontinued. Is there anything else out there that is equal to Toms of Maine?

I have tried Kiss My Face and it is ok but not my 1st choice. Has anyone tried Weleda shave cream?

    Any other suggestions...

I believe Weleda is brushless if that matters to you. Trader Joes carries Alba which is also brushless if memory serves.

I'm not too sure the finer points of all natural ingredients, but Omega is a nice cream that shaves very well--with brush.

    Speick.

I think Godrej and Erasmic are fairly natural but I have not looked at the ingredients listing in a while.

Shep, Omega/Proraso/Bigelow is loaded with parbens, not that I am scared but if your looking for all natural. Not sure about Weleda but Trader Joe's can be used with a brush. Not easy but can be done and done well.

I dont get the all natural part. There are plenty of natural things that are just as bad as the industrial counterparts. MWF is pretty natural and old school.

Where did you hear this? Weleda is a "normal", natural shaving cream to be used with a brush. I'd also recommend Speick, Lavera and the Founder's Reserve St. James.

I recall checking some reviews on both Weleda and Alba a few months back by a few other users. Just repeating what they said as I've never used either. Perhaps they just had trouble or didn't like how it lathered. May be erroneous info. Sorry. Speick would be my choice. Good call.

Ok thanks. I sort of assumed Omega isn't as "all natural" as he was looking for, but it's a fairly mild cream I think. I don't really get the whole paraben thing. I've seen off and on where guys were concerned about them, but never really cared enough to investigate further. What's the issue with them?

I'm with you here. I would add to that even an "all natural" product must have some additives, preservatives or other man-made stuff included. If it goes through a manufacturing process in all liklihood it is no longer 100% natural.

Not that I have any problem with the OP looking for natural products to shave with. By all means it's his choice. Just making an observation.

Well, I agree that it's a bit harder to lather than other creams, but that certainly doesn't make it brushless. Makes me wonder how accurate all these reviews really are :D

Werent a bunch of those brands you can pick up at the super market recently boycotted by a bunch of people for not being 100% natural?

What is the deal with parbans?

Don't know, they are chemical preservatives that can cause cancer........ maybe . OH and lavender makes your boobs grow so you want to steer clear of Taylors Lavender. :happy102

The deal with parabens is, that most of them are suspected
of being endocrine disrupting. Children being born with deformed genitals, breast cancer, testicular cancer and deteriorating sperm quality are all suspected of being caused by endocrine disrupters.

Triclosan can make bacteria multiresistant to penicilin.

It is possible to make good soaps without a lot of additives.
    My shower gel contains:
Water, cane sugar, coconut and corn sugar soap, vegetable glycerine,
citric acid, essential lavender and eucalyptus oil.
    Best before date: juli 2019.

P.S. The weleda shave cream is sold as a brushless cream, but i have had no problems facelathering it with a brush :D

    Guess it's a cultural thing.
Over here, more and more deodorants, soaps, laundry detergents etc. are labeled:
"Contains no parabens and/or no perfume".
Finding a product with triclosan in it, is next to impossible.

Its kind of funny that our cribs were painted in lead paint, our toys were lead based paint, and we probably licked all over them. We are still OK. Parabens are bad if injested I believe but at mass amounts. I just think the performance of TOM is superb.

  18. Any bad reactions or theories about parabens have been from a few, very few trials, (mostly concentrated doses on lab rats) & are refuted by most respected chemists, cancer & hormone scientists. Parabens are used in very small amounts & no real trials have been done using cosmetics with parabens in regular low doses. Allot of well.. trash is spoken about the cumulative effect of using so many products containing parabens, but parabens are quickly metabolised so this theory doesn't hold any weight. There are alternatives but parabens are very effective & have been used safely for decades.

Apart from parabens any soap is the result of saponification, a man-made chemical reaction so by its very nature unnatural.

If you liked a particular scent or the lather from the tom's cream perhaps someone can suggest an alternative, natural or not.

    Merry Christmas,

    Paul

Well if i can't email or PM you Snow, i'll have to answer here.

The Brown Sugar Shower Gel i described, is made by Danish company "Urtekram".
Google urtekram shower gel, and you should find an online vendor that suits you...
