Just wanted to give a brief intro for you guys. I know you get these everyday but maybe there are a few out there that actually likes looking at these. Not sure exactly how I stumbled into wetshaving but I guess you can say I'm pretty hooked. The last thing I really wanted was another hobby to occupy more of my time but even though I'm still pretty new at wetshaving I've already spent a pretty penny and have yet to complete my repertoire. Anyway, just wanted to give a shout out and I hope to interact with many of you and hopefully be able to contribute something meaningful. ~Ringer~
Welcome Ringer, I'm also new here at The Shave Den and have found lots of good information for the wet shaver.
Well, I just had a visit to Chicago this last weekend and besides my DE Merker Futur blade I picked up T&H Grafton, 1805, Tom's of Maine shaving cream, and Kiss My Face shaving cream. Right now I'm using a cheapo shaving brush from Walmart (I know...I know, it's the the most important part and should have gotten it first) but ordered a Shavemac brush and am contemplating ordering a shaving scuttle. The scuttle is something I can do without for a while so I may just stick with the shaving-mug-in-the-sink method. Well, I didn't even touch on my weaknesses which are aftershaves and colognes. I have a few of these in mind but I think what drew me into wetshaving was all of the different scents with the creams and aftershaves. I really am a smellaholic and if I had the chance I would be in a cologne store the whole day trying to find the perfect scent. I guess it's still cheaper than other hobbies I have. That's what I keep telling myself anyway. Thanks for all of the welcomes!
I've got both the widely available "cheapo" brushes: a Van Der Hagen and a Burma-Shave. Both of them improved greatly in both softness and water retention after a couple of treatments with hair conditioner (Pantene Pro-V Restoratives, in this case)...you might want to consider this tweak for your brush until the Shavemac arrives.
