Hi all, thought I would post a picture of the latest member of the family, just because I thought the handle was stunning(english pewter I think), the knot is silvertip, but chinese, it may not be up to much, I will try it out, and maybe re-knot it at a later date!!!

My new brush arrived this morning, I have tried to show the detail in the handle which is beautiful, punched out pewter in a floral and leaf design with a deep blue acrylic backing, IMAG0075.jpg IMAG0074.jpg IMAG0073.jpg IMAG0072.jpg

yes it is quite heavy, I love the handle but have some concerns about the knot, I used it this morning and it lost quite a few hairs, I don't know if this is a part of the breaking in period or if the knot is just no good, I have a few other brushes, and none of them lost anything whilst breaking in !!!!

After using the brush several more times I have noticed continued hair loss, and had thought that the knot was no good, this morning I tried to see if there was any reason for the loss of hair, grabbed hold of the knot and handle and gave a good hard twist, to my astonishment the knot came out clean in my hand, on closer inspection of the handle I discovered that there was very little epoxy holding the knot in, also that the knot was not pushed to the bottom of the opening in the handle( and I had wondered why the brush had performed like a feather duster), Anyway off to the hardware store to get some epoxy, put a generous amount in the handle, pushed the knot in as far as it would go and wiped off the excess with a damp cloth, after leaving for an hour to set I decided to try it out, the result is a shorter, stiffer brush, ( the loft has been reduced by approx 3-4 mm just by pushing the knot in properly) still soft (being a silvertip), but it has some backbone to it now, and:bounce015: no hair loss so far
Could it be that I have performed my first Re-knot, or simply put the brush back to the way it should have been in the first place!!!

It's Great to use, has a solid weighty feel to it, I will keep an eye on it to see if it loses any more hais in the future, but I'm hoping I've cured the problem!!!

What a beautiful brush! (Hmm, maybe I could save the price up in a week or two… but then I won't be able to look at any more razors… hmmm. calculations…)
