New Avon finds

Wow! I completely forgot about those unique Avon cologne and AS bottles. I was a kid back then. Thanks for taking me down memory lane!

 

That one has to be pretty tricky to pour out.

 

I just picked up a bottle of Brisk Spice and Oland. The Oland was okay not great but okay. The Brisk Spice I really like. Is that what people refer as the Spicy? Does anybody know what modern A/S is comparable to the Brisk Spice?

 

There was another after shave they called Spicy. The Brisk Spice was their version of Old Spice.

I have both the Spicy and Brisk Spice and they are very good. I also have an Oland that was unopened, until I got it, but seems to be good.

 

I was lucky enough to find an unopened, still fine Oland at a thrift store. I've used it quite a bit...I really enjoy it and didn't remember it from yrs back. My Pinaud collection is jealous, but they'll get over it lol.

 

I sniffed several examples of Oland and purchased one. From my reading there is an oil in Oland that my turn and give an off scent.
A member of basenotes.net said, "a good bottle of Oland is almost identical to Old Spice's "Burley" from 1967-1968".

 

Yeah, I've also heard of that. The one I have, like I mentioned above, was unopened when I got it and hasn't appeared to be "spoiled".

 

My bottle of Oland had not been opened yet if I were to guess. The white tab under the cap was still stuck to the bottle. As I said it was okay. I will use it.

 

Based on the small bottle of Burley I got, that is true.

Brisk Spice smells much more like Shulton (to me, it's practically identical) than either Spicy (which is passably close) or current O.S. (which isn't). You have to luck out finding some, there isn't that much around.

So after I found the Brisk Spicy and Oland I went looking for some more old Avon and this is what I found at a local shop. All are full of smelly stuff.

You did good! I haven't bought any Avon decanters just for the cool shapes, yet. After you get 5 or 7 full bottles of various AS scents the hunt shifts to seeking ones you don't own.
Still keeping my eye open for Tai Winds, Spicy, and Lime.
