I 'upgraded' my previous brush carousel from a 5-unit model to this 10-unit model. These old rubber stamp carousels can be had fairly cheaply on ebay. I paid $11 for this one in pretty good shape. They are quite handy for holding shaving brushes, but they do require some attention before use. My previous Achilles stand began to rust and two of the prong units snapped off (metal-fatigue). On this stand, I gave it two coats of Krylon anti-rust primer, and two final coats of water-proof bronze spray enamel. The ends of each prong I dipped into black PlastiDip™; two coats, to protect the brush handle from potential scratching from the bare metal. Now organized, ideal for drying and I have room to grow.
I'm not really a 'brush' guy—(he says sheepishly as an owner of nearly a dozen brushes ) in that I don't spend much of my shaving budget on the premium brushes. I've collected the majority 2nd hand or relatively cheap new. The costliest in the lot is probably the 30mm Lijun Silvertip, which was still a bargain. My go-to brush is probably my $12 omega boar.
Did you notice the diminutive little Simpson in the rack? It reminds me of a child trying to keep up with all the adult brushes… I have two other brushes 'in the works' (getting new knots and handles), plus the old 'fixer-upper' brush project.
Actually, it reminds me of a young archer I know. She is 13 & small for her age. She recently entered a large tournament in the adult class & took 4th. I bet a lot of people underestimated her because she is small. There's clearly a lesson to be learned there.
