I am only 5 days in, but I am already finding shaving much more enjoyable. I also notice that although not BBS, my face is cleaner longer as well. Got a Merkur 38C with blue handle, a Vulfix 100A Badger brush, Proraso Pre-Post Cream Menthol & Eucalyptus, and Thayers Alcohol Free Witch Hazel from West Coast Shaving.

I couldn't believe how fast it was processed. They got my order around 10 am on a Saturday, and it was shipped that day at about 2. They were out of the Tabac soap that I wanted, and I neglected to put a different soap in the order. I ended up getting a puck of Van Der Hagen at the local grocery store. I am not too impressed with it. Waiting on the Tabac from another retailer.

I can feel that I am going to get sucked into this, feels more like a hobby than a necessary fact of life already.

    Jim

Hi! Welcome to the Den from another Maineiac.

Where 'bouts are you from? I was born in Van Buren. Mom and Dad have since retired and now are in Addison, about an hour from Bar Harbor, up Rt. 1.

I'm a Mainer, too. I am from the Lewiston/Auburn area. Good luck finding anything locally, though :) Welcome!

Jim, glad you're here. If 5 days in you're already using the word "hobby," well, this doesn't bode well for you. Good luck. [IMG]

    Welcome to the Den, Jim.

I don't blame you on the VdH soap, but you can get a good lather from it. The trick is to put some hot water on the puck and let it sit for a minute. pour off the water and then start your lathering routine. It'll tide you over until you can get your Tabac.

Thanks for the hint on the vdh lathering. I will have to take a pic of the mug my great grand pappy bought in the 1800's that I have broken out of retirement.
