I was toying with some VDH tonight to get my sideburns right, and messed up and had to shave completely. I have to say, I had a just a bit to thin, but I still had a great shave. To think... I thought I was a cream man. I don't know myself anymore :(

Yea man I love VDH. Its cheap, smells great, found locally. Hard to beat stuff.

One of my favorite things about shaving is whipping up the puck.

It was my first time actually trying with a puck, and it's crazy how much the consistency (compared to my omega in the tub) makes a difference. I did have a problem loading my brush. I'm not sure what the factor was.

Dude, soap is awesome. I hardly ever use creams anymore.

Sometimes getting more soap in the brush requires more water in the brush. I don't know for sure that's the problem here but if you're squeezing or shaking your brush, try just giving it a couple yo-yo's to get the excess water out but don't shake it hard. Then go to the puck and see how it does. If you have thin bubbly stuff at the beginning, that's probably good. Just keep swirling until you've got a lather starting to build on the puck then go to the face or bowl and work it.

Pretty soon you'll get a feel for how much water to leave in the brush and how much loading you need to do.

    Great point Brian.

And don't be afraid to make a bit of a mess. You'll figure out how to tone the mess down after you get the lather building down pat.
