Greetings... The simple fact that I am posting here possibly indicates a mild obsession, however I believe I have a full blown disorder. I'm new to the forum, and back to double edge shaving with joy and gusto. I used an electric razor for years, because I was too "busy"... but would occasionally use my double edge. I have a "Black Beauty" Super Adjustable I bought new in the 70's... and never really knew what I had until I got curious about my dad's old Aristocrat, which was given to me after he passed. Little did I know. I have been lurking around this forum for a long time, absorbing a lot of knowledge. Reading books, studying and just really enjoying this collecting hobby. But as a long time pipe collector, I'm also one who uses the razors I acquire. This is new, and I now have a rotation of three razors I use... yes I feel a little disloyal to my original adjustable, but hey... I needed a birth year razor, so I was lucky to find a NOS 1956 red tip SS... that is a great shaving razor, but I do like sharp blades in it... and I was also fortunate to find a NOS Rocket HD... need I say more? I feel rich. To those collectors who cringe at the thought of using a NOS collectible, I'm sorry, I do not want to offend. I just think it's a thrill to shave with a razor that is mine... it needs no cleaning, no sterilizing, no replating... it's new... and I get to use it. I think that is amazing, and makes my life a lot richer. What scares me is... I'm just getting started. God help me. And please don't tell my wife... this is something she will NOT get...
@phillpsych glad you joined. You'll find plenty of enablers here to keep you company down the DE path, myself included. Have fun!
Welcome - and you have come to the right place. We are RAD experts here and we can show you lots of shiny things BTW: How many brushes do you have? soaps?
Welcome to The Den. Go ahead and embrace the RAD. Just set a monthly budget that you can afford and stick to it. That's my plan anyway. I've been at it for almost 2 years now and I've still managed to acquire enough stuff that I'm doing an entire No Buy year in 2016.
Welcome and I too am starting to get rad.. But I'm controlling it by realizing my technique is not honed in yet. I should concentrate on that instead of acquiring razors that I can't get good shave out of due to lack of technique .. My face is suffering something fierce..
Welcome! RAD isn't bad...it's just a normal disease like alcoholism or a chemical dependency. I've been DE/SE shaving for almost 2 years and only have about 35 razors. And besides, what she doesn't know won't hurt you...maybe.
Welcome, and embrace your inner child. Gather those DE's now, because soon the Hipsters will tire of Lumberjack beards. By having a bucket of razors, you can serve them Vintage Goodies.
Welcome to TSD. To help you with your RAD I can send you a PM so you can PIF your objects of guilt as a service to you. Keeping your relationship with your wife from deception and guilt. If this doesn't suit your situation shoot me a PM and perhaps I can feed your disorder thereby blaming me for being your enabler. Sounds "win-win" to me. Welcome aboard!!! ...To be continued... Don
