i went back to practicing on my lathe. I got some Louisiana cypress wood (trees that grow in the middle of the swap with the moss hanging out of them. I still have a lot to learn on the lathe but I managed to save a very pretty knot in the head of the brush. The hair is a cheap vie long blond horse hair brush that I took the hair knot out of. The hole for the hair knot is a little big I didn't have a forest bit the same size as the hair knot.
I live in a community that was built by cutting cypress trees, digging canals to drain the land and build what use to be a bedroom community. There are a few areas on our village where there are cypress groves. They and all the cypress trees in our town are now protected. The previous owners of my house cut down the two that were on the property prior to the protection mandates. I have given thought to what a cypress brush handle would look like and you @Ceferguson have done a superb job of bringing one to life. Great job!!! Handmade handcrafted brushes are synonymous with the name Jayaruh. Dzia Dzia loves them too. Here's to both of you... ... To be continued... Don
I have a cypress growing in the orchard, next to the satsuma trees. Might do a little pruning one day
