So I placed an order from ShoeBoxShaveShop.com and couldn't resist throwing a boar brush in. I seem them getting favorable reviews on here, and for the price I figured why not. I have Pure Badger, this should be different enough to have some different uses. The handle is MUCH bigger than my badger, the whole thing is large. Soda can for size reference.
I have the 48 and it is large yes, but an amazing brush. I prefer to face lather and due to the loft it is a bit tricky but you can make it work. Soaps or cream....doesn't matter. This thing works. After a few weeks of steady use it'll start to split the tips of the bristles and be just as soft (at the tips) as a badger but with far stiffer at the shafts.
Great looking brush. I know you'll enjoy it for a long time. So, with a loft that high, can you eventually splay it on your face or are you left with painting lather on?
Oh no, you can splay it....up your nose in your eyes and ears.....its huge. You can paint lather on but I like to face lather so I got used to its size. You need to figure out where to splay and where to paint or at least not splay as much.
I also have the 49 in red (THANKS DALE) I love it and want to get a few other Omega brushes. I reach for "BIG RED" whenever I face lather. You will enjoy that brush!
I have the Proraso branded version of this with the "chrome" handle. It was my first and I still enjoy it. Once it's fully broken in it will be as soft as a silvertip!
Nice 3 day weekend coming up, contemplating visiting Tony and Vanessa... I really would eventually like an Omega black badger; I know its not boar related but hey! I'm thinking about putting my near mint Plisson on the block since all it does is remind me of the past...
Wow. Are you feeling alright? I think your endless promotion of the Omega line, may have me pick one up. Oh wait, I have the 11047, I guess I should pick up a mid-sized Omega boar next time I place an order.
