Nederlands en Afrikaans zijn bijna dezelfde taal. Er zijn slechts een paar verschillen. :D

Ja, ik weet het. Afrikaans was tot 1965 of zo "Cape Dutch" genoemd en een dialect van het Nederlands. Het is echt fascinerend.

Rich, every time I say something in Dutch I destroy it with my accent. On the other hand if I say anything in Afrikaans I get told that my accent is perfect. Isn’t that strange?

Interesting. But, I can't comment on accent. My Dutch accent is kind of a mess thanks to Duolingo's computerized voice. I'm working on it (with TV programs, etc.), but I still sound rather German with a touch of American and sometimes Flemish. Sometimes in the same sentence.

German...........is as natural for me to speak as Hebrew because my parents spoke to me in it from the time I was born. I freak Germans out every time I speak it because I have no trace of Nordic appearance so they think I lived in Germany all my life. The same thing happens when I speak Russian.
