New to safety razors. Got a few questions

I've been using Personna Super blades ever since I got two 100 blade packs for about $20.00 a while ago on Ebay. Mild, long lasting, yet shaves close and comfortable.

 

This is what I just posted on another forum:

There are a couple of safe, middle of the road, blades, from the top of my head (though everyone who says YMMV is right)

- Astra greens and blues (but not for me, I find them harsh)
- Personna Platinum Chrome aka Made in Israel aka Personna Reds
- Gillette 7'o Clock green and yellow package; yellow are the sharpest
- Sharks; not super sharp, but very smooth

I personally love the sharper blades, like Rapira Platinum Lux and Feathers. Astras are sharp as well, but for some reason don't agree with my skin that much. But the sharper blades may be too much for a beginning wetshaver, because even the Rapiras can be unforgiving. Bics are sharp, but very good as well.
