I just ordered a couple of tubes of the Arko Moist Shave Cream and was wondering how do you prefer to lather, by scuttle or face? From what I understand it doesn't take much cream at all to get a good lather going, right?

My experience has been great with the Arko. You can probably use less with the Arko, but I use the "Dridecker Snurdle" method of measurement, which amounts to about the serving size of toothpaste on the toothbrush for me. I use a scuttle for mine so I have the warm lather. I reserve the face lathering for the sticks.

A couple daps each cheek, a couple under each side of throat, maybe one on chin..shake water from brush and hit it lathering....Face lathering diffinatly my favorite...any time spent with brush on face is a pleasure for me, just feels good.

Face lathering is the way to go! It's great for exfoliating your skin and you get instant feedback from your lather, whether to add more water or more cream.

Also, Arko makes some great variety of creams. You'll be pleased!

I put the cream in the palm of my hand shake some water out of my brush then rub the brush around my palm just enough to pick up the cream then go to my face. May not be the right way buit it works for me.

I have found I have to use a bit more than the average person in order to work up a good lather. I attribute this to my rock hard water. YMMV, so experiment.

Its great to put some cream in a bowl and to whip up a great lather - very satisfying. Then gently paint it on, have a little scrub if you wish, but then smooth over with gentle painting strokes.

Or! Do as many others do, don't use a bowl, apply some cream in the ways suggested then scrub away as much as you wish. But smooth over gently to finish.

There are no real rights and wrongs. It's great fun finding our preferred way of doing things.

I know...I copped it from you...Before I was putting it on the end of the brush and hitting the face lathering...After I read what you do I gave it a try and loved it, been doing it that way ever since...Thanks for yet another good tip...:))

What are the differences between the cream that comes in a tube and the pucks that you lather up in a bowl? The pucks can be expensive, but they might last longer.

What is the advantage of one over the other?

I think you answered your own question? Longevity of the puck is the deal breaker with the puck vs tube scenario. I am going on 4 months with my Tabac Puck and probably get another month after that. Can't do that with a tube of cream.

I have no idea what to expect from my tube of Arko that I recently ordered. Maybe I can get 10 days out of a tube though the tube looks pretty small in the picture.

Face lathering is the only way for me. I still use a warm mug to keep the brush and lather warm but the luxury of building lather on the face just cannot be replicated in a mug/scuttle. Of course YMMV.
