New to the forum and to the D/E shaving world

    Hello All,

    I am new to the forum and to the D/E shaving world. However, I ain't new. In fact, I am a 48 year old father of three who has been married for nearly 27 years.

    Well, to be honest, I learned to shave with my dad's safety razor - a Gillette. I went off to college and received a Gillette Atra shaver (I still have it) that was my very first personal shaver. Since then I have used an assortment of the multi-blade shavers and a few electric shavers. That is, until now. I just bought a Merkur 34c. I'll still be using the Gillette Fusion until the Merkur arrives but then I will be going old school. Not entirely old school, mind you, because I just ain't ready to make the leap to a straight razor.

    At any rate, I'm glad to be a member of TSD and look forward to learning more by reading what y'all have to say.

    A couple of suggestions:
    Get a large blade sampler pack,the more blades you can try the better,
    Get some Van der Hagan shave soap it's a good ,inexpensive, locally available shave soap and it's made in America.....
    The #6 horse hair shave brush from bestshave.com is a decent Very inexpensive shave brush, the QC at bestshave can be spotty, but if you get a good one its a deal..I've had and used mine daily for about two years....
    If you use soap pucks the small ZipLoc containers work VERY well for soap storage, the're durable,can hold two pucks and are VERY cheap to buy............:)
