Hello, I've been wetshaving for a few months and I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me. I've been active on other forums, but only lurking on this one until now. Figured was about time I changed that. Cheers.
Please tell us a little buit more about yourself. What razor do you shave with? What blades have you tried? Do you shave against the grain, with the grain, across the grain. With this information forum member can attempt to help you with your shave experience.
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. A bit more about me. I'm still in the process of finding the setup that works best for me. I use the new Body Shop synthetic brush and I've narrowed the blades down to Derbys, Red Pack Personnas and Feathers. For better or worse, I've managed to accumulate quite a few razors in a short period of time. Had been loving the old open combs, my Bulldog and 34 Aristrocrat, but picked up a couple Rockets recently so been rotating them along wih my late 40's Aristocrat for comparison.
The sheer number of your razors is often referred to around these parts as Acqusition Disorder and is really quite common around these parts. I had it myself when I learned that I like super speeds and whent on a bings of buying super speeds. Now thatnfully once I assembled my collection of super speeds I have been able to avoid buying anything additional since then. The Aristocrat is a very popular shaver around these parts, you will find that you have a lot of company there. Personally I was not terrible impressed by them. However I think that you will be more impressed if you pick up a badger hair brush. Forum members have told me that the badger is a better performer. since then I have steped up from the synthetic to an entry level badger and let me tell you its a lot better then the synthetic.Which after shave do you use? A splash or a balm?
Hello and welcome. You've got a nice collection of sweet razors so far. I agree with jbcohen about the brushes. I had a synthetic and a boars hair previously and my cheap little Tweezerman badger hair brush outperforms them.
