Just saying hello from Henderson, Nevada. Just joined up yesterday on the advice of a few friends who are already members. I am very new to the Wet Shave Scene, so I have a lots to learn. I made the decision to start myself a small collection, as well as learning the proper way, to Wet Shave, Razors, Blades, Brushes, Soaps & Creams, etc. I am 77 years young, with a lot of experiences under my belt. This will be a new one for me!
High their, @johnnyflake , I am 71, so you make me feel young. HA! Glad you have joined us. I suggest you get yourself some razors older than you are. They are marvelous tools. I am shaving with an AutoStrop single edge from 1906 right now getting wonderfully smooth shaves.
Welcome to TSD @johnnyflake! Glad you listened to your friends and signed up. You're never too old or young to pick up a new skill. If you find you'd like a little coaching, or want to ask questions about your new shave gear right here in your own personal thread is a great place to start. Just ask questions. Plenty of folks around to offer opinions, advice, even actual information. When you get your razor & blades, soap, brush, and aftershave ready to go but encounter issues there's a group that specializes in developing technique for the best results. Made up of new Shavers learning vintage gear and vintage Shavers trying new razors - The 30 Day Rule / Focus Group is all about sharing tips, tricks, BBQ recipes, photos of kids & grand kids, and the occasional shenanigans. Well, it's a lot of shenanigans but the conversation always comes back to shaving. +1 to that Jim! Vintage gear is great way to get started. Guess I'm just a young pup with my '59 Gillette Fat Boy, but it's two years older than me.
My 1959 Gillette Fatboy was released when my Dad was 5 years old, and predates me by 27 years! Welcome to the forum @johnnyflake. Great bunch of people here.
