Lots of you know me from Brand X down the street. Not a noob to wet shaving, in fact I gave a couple of you guys help when you first started. My taste in shaving gear goes to pretty pedestrian. No Merkurs, Rooney Brushes or high dollar soaps in my shave cave, it's just not my style. I still maintain that double edge razors should be used only on men's heads and womens legs. My weapons of choice are the Gem Micromatic, Gem Jr. 1912, and very soon (hopefully) a lather catcher or two. I am in fact, a Gemocrat and very proud of it. Soap wise, of course VDH is a permanent fixture. I prefer glycerin to deluxe but use both fairly regularly. I'm also a huge fan of TSD soaps. Since it's summer (and I live in Florida) Coconut Lime Verbena and Magnolia were both logical choices this spring when I rolled in on some shaving soap. Both of these are keepers, I may go to something a bit more woodsy or rosey come fall but for now my current rotation of soaps seems more than adequate. I prefer Dickinson's or generic WH to Thayers. I've recently began experimenting with mixing my own designer WH. I currently use about a 1:1 mixture of Dickinson's and Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel. Very nice indeed. I've got a couple more possibilities between my ears but haven't mixed them up yet. I'll keep you posted on this. I don't as a rule wear cologne but aftershave I actually have both types, classic and American My current stable of stink be gone includes: Clubman Lilac Vegetal (oh, stop it doesn't either smell like pee) Clubman Bay Rum Murray and Lanman Florida Water Murray and Lanman Rose Cologne Murray and Lanman Lotus and Violets Aqua Velva Classic (who would be without this one?) Brut Splash On Aqua Velva Ice Sport Aqua Velva Musk (I like this one alot but it can't run with the classic) That's about it for me, glad to be here. I've heard great things about TSD and I'm sure they're all true
Welcome to TSD!Its so good to have you here. You gave me so many cool advices about SE shaving!!!!Im glad to have you aboard.
Welcome to TSD! I hope you enjoy your stay. Even though you are far from being a new wet shaver, be sure to sign up for the July Newbie Give-Away for a chance to win some more great shave gear!
I have tried all of those after shaves and then some. I have tried just about every after shave known to mankind. Some of your choices are pretty good.
Thanks for the quite flattering remarks but I feel obligated to point out that you already had D_Irving 79, the Dalai Lama of Single Edge, who by the way, is, was, and will always be my wetshaving mentor. He's truly "The Guy" when it comes to SE, super old razors. I'm just a struggling wannabe Dave
