After a 7 week wait with the Firehouse Potter, Larry sent me my Silver-Tip. Salmon color with a 24mm knot sunk to 15mm (loft of 50mm). This pic is after 2 soaks in dish detergent, and a palm lather with Razorock Classic. No outrageous badger smell...As a matter of fact, I couldn't smell any badger odor even before the soaks. It looks like the brush is going to bloom nicely after the break-in. I'm stoked !
When you get your brush you will really enjoy it. I have my WD 30/65 Silver Tip Badger, also a VDH pure Badger, and a VDH Boar brush. I can say that I only use my WD brush. I will probably get another WD Brush, for when we travel. Or maybe another VDH set to put in the RV and then not have to pack and unpack my shaving kit.
I fear that the 20mm knot I got (the only one in stock at the time) may be too small. But I will post a review when it come in.
If I remember correctly you had said that you had a VDH Shaving Set. (I might be wrong on that) but if you do I think that the VDH boar brush is about that size. Not sure though. I think that the Pure Badger that VDH sells is also about that same size.
I just got my WD 24/55mm silver tip in today. Granted it's not a firehouse but my next one may be. How's the weight of the handle being that it's pottery?
@digitaldome congratulations for your brush. I have a Whipped Dog 24mm silvertip,i wash it 2-3 times so there will be no more smell I set le loft lower so it can have have more backbone but..... I can't say that i am happy compared with other silvertip knot that i have from other brands. Larry yes is a very nice guy to deal with,God bless him.
