New? Wilkinson Sword?

The package says new on it anyway.........

Wandering around Sprawl Mart this weekend and found Wilkinson Sword cart razor called the Tech 3. $5 bucks for a handle with 2 carts, refills come in 4 for $5 so I figured give it a try. (stick it to gillette anyway)

3 blades so there is some more pull than my DE but over all nice and smooth with no razor burn. The only thing I really didn't like about it was the really slimey layer from the lube strip. I figure that will be gone after another shave or 2.

Sprawl Mart also had "new" Wilkinson Sword DE blades at $1.76 for a 10 pack.

So is this stuff new or are things a little slower in Iowa? ;)

Wal-Mart recently dropped the US Personna contract they previously stocked. It sounds like you're among the first to notice the replacements. I'm not sure if these are one of the Wilkinson Sword blades already in production and is only "new" to US retail or if they're actually a new blade. My first guess would be the former.

The New Wilkinson blade is German made and unbranded on both the blade and dispenser. My guess is that these are marketed elsewhere under a different label. However, they are pretty nice blades and I think they're much nicer than the Personnas they've replaced.

They have those razors and de blades in Tampa now too. I admit the de blades looked tempting and I will give them a shot at some point, but the cartridge razors held no sway.

I bought one of the Tech 3 cartridge razors, and a set of refills to try out. Seems decent enough, and gave me a nice quality shave in two passes (WTG, and XTG).

Yes it does have the slime factor, but it's not nearly as bad as the slime the Schick Hydro generates.

Here is a photo of the razor:

Wow, a store still taking the time to put price tags on their products? I love it.

The cartridges look like W.S. Xtreame 3 from their website. Don't you love marketing?

Just bought one for myself! :) I'm a huge fan of cartridge shavers, and would love to get a "budget mach 3 :)" I'll update on my review also!

  9. Nice design, I hope one day to try it!

    Not really new

The "new" Wilkinson Sword Tech 3 is the Schick Tracer from about 15 years ago. I had one back than and liked it but Schick discontinued it. I bought one from Wal-Mart to replace my Personna Magnum M5 when I discovered I could not get blades from WM anymore. At $5.00, the WS Tech 3 is a great value and it shaves better than the Personna.

The only difference between the old Schick Tracer and the New WS Tech 3 is that the Trace had only two blades.

Michigan has an item pricing law that requires price tags on all but 50 items in the store....Aldi has the manufacturer preprint the price on the package to comply.....

sol92258 I have no earthly idea

Wilkinson Sword is Schick, Schick is Wilkinson Sword...

Einhorn is Finkle! Finkle is Einhorn!

Can't remember which bought which, or when, but they are the same company now, in the past has been Schick here in the states, Wilkinson Sword everywhere else on the planet.

If you like Schick cartridges or DE blades, these will treat you well

I tried the tech 3 and I wasn't really impressed but on the other hand I use the wilk de blade and I love it. As far as cartridge blades go the schick hydro 5 blade is the bomb.

    Ouch!!!

I just tried this razor...all I can say is ouch! There was alot of tugging and pulling. Got a few weepers. I dont think I will be using this razor again.

I will stick to my Hydro 3!

The Hydro 3 and 5 are available in both North America and the UK (they haven't hit The Netherlands yet). If the Tech3 which I haven't seen is a Tracer, they are the same as the new Wilkinson Sword Extreme3's which now have a new designed handle - very similar to the old FX aka the Tracer but slightly different blade attachment.

Schick and Wilkinson Sword have merged. I have been using Schick Xtreme3 blades for years and these Wilkinson Swordss are a perfect match for my Schick Xtreme 3 handle. In my opinion they are the same blades before the Sub Zero's came out which I never used anyway. I can use one cartridge for multiple shaves and glad to find them at a local store instead of ordering online since no retailers carry the Xtreme 3 cartridges anymore.

I used these Wilkinson Sword Tech 3 razors for several years before getting in to DE shaving. They were good when new, but as a college student on a strict budget, I used them long past their expected life time and they irritated my face a lot. I used the disposable razors.
