    Hi
I'm a 28 year old guy from Sweden.
I recently discovered the beauty and comfort in shaving with old DE razors because of the expensive and uncomfortable shaving the comes with multiblade shavingsystems.
Just a few days ago I got my first DE-razor, a Gillette Tech aluminium handled, and WOW, that feeling...
I purchased it from a swedish auctionsite along with a Allegro safety razor honing machine.
    I use Feather-blades.
Question: Between witch years did they manufacture these in England?
There's no number or markings and I want to know witch year it's made.

Sorry can't answer the date question, but I know they made them for decades. Your razor is likely from the 60's or 70's. If you look at the underside of the razor, you will see a letter and a number. Post those up and we'll get a date for you.

The Allegra blade stropper will not see much use unless you start using old carbon razor blades.

If you need any more advice, just click on the link in my signature. Welcome to the Den. Make yourself at home. :)

The English razors tend not to have consistent date coding like the U.S. made razors after the early 1950s (1952 forward) .

This razor began production in 1963 and ran through at least 1976.

Here is some good material from Achim's site.

Since you are new to DE shaving, Here is the advice I received when I started with a DE and so I freely give it to new users. The most important things in shaving are, your skin and technique. All other things fall in line behind those two things and to support them. Since the skin is a given fixed item, the next major item is technique. It is called THE 30 DAY RULE.

THE 30 DAY RULE is as follows: Find a razor, then a blade that will not cause issues with your skin (that may take a few different blades in a sampler pack to find a suitable choice or it maybe the first out of the gate) and select a soap or cream that is easy to generate good lather. Once you find those, and it may take a couple of weeks to find this combination, order a quantity of that blade enough for 30 days, and then spend 30 days using nothing else until you build up your technique. (Note that only one brand blade is used for 30 days after each blade in the sampler pack is tested to make the decision on the blade brand to use for 30 days.) The 30 day clock starts when you have the right blade for you.

After 30 days, change one and only one variable and work for another week then change another after another week. At that point you should be able to make better decisions because your technique is now in place.

This will help you to avoid buying too much gear and stuff too soon without having the technique down to enjoy it all.

Oh and one more thing ...

I'd agree the Brits made some very good razors, but were really bad a dating them..:) These are nice little razors, I have two of those handles one with a tech head which I think is original, but the other has an "Old style" Gillette open comb head on it. A FrankenRazor for sure, but it looks really nice....:D

I have no attention to use the Allegra stropper, it came along with the razor, just a nice machine.

My skin gets very dry when I shave and I wonder if I should use some oil or some other shavingsoap?
Maybe I should test with some babyoil.
I use Geo F Trumper's Coconut Oil Shaving Soap but I ordered a new soap yesterday, Crabtree & Evelyn Sienna.

Maybe try some aftershave balm to combat the dryness.
I'm not big on balms myself, but I do have two that get occasional use - Brut and L'Oreal Comfort Max for men. I get both locally.
