Just ordered a scuttle from Georgetown Pottery this morning. Thought you might like to know that they have a couple of persimmon-colored scuttles in stock. If the color works for you, then you save a few weeks to make one from scratch.

I have the Persimmon and hamada. I like the color. THe Georgetown Scuttle will be THE PERFECT scuttle, for me, when they mold them.
    If I didn't have two I'd buy a handthrown Persimmon :)

Here is thje Persimmon hamada color. Tho I'm usually wrong :)
Features that they have I really like:
Heavy enuff to place on counter and lather with one hand
    keeps lather/brush warm
    Looks and performs GREAT

    I KNEW IT!!!!!
It wasn't in the same place I usually place it......

    hahahahahaha
The molded version will be about as perfect as a scuttle can get...

I had passed on other scuttles because I just didn't like the look of them. After viewing the first incarnation of this and reading of the changes being made I thought I pulled the trigger. Of all the shave purchases I have made in the last two years, this is one of the finest I have made. It is very solid, the glaze cannot be appreciated until viewed in person and I didn't know what I was missing with regards to warm lather.

I had a look at the Georgetown Pottery site and couldn't find the scuttles :(

But I found their pottery bathroom sinks, looked mighty nice, I would like a BIG pottery sink!

They are not up on the site yet. While I just gave them a call, your best bet might just be to email them. They are VERY responsive and nice to work with.

Thanks! I think I'll just do that, I'd like to know the shipping, IF they ship to Sweden....

  11. If not, I am sure you could find something suitable from IKEA !!;)

As much as I like IKEA, I doubt they have scuttles, or anything near what the Georgetown Scuttles look like.

Hehe, does it show? I have worked like a small blue one (Swedish saying, looks funny in translation ) the latest weeks to finish the assigned tasks before I go away on vacation (== lots of unpaid overtime!). And not the least, reaching 1000 posts, that takes some work too :p

I use an Ikea scuttle - as much as it can be called a scuttle. More of a shaving mug really. Alright not a scuttle at all, but Ikea.

Actually splurged and bought two, one as a shave mug and the second to build a lather. They nest and the top one sits nicely just above the soap. The setup works well for me.

The Georgetown does look nice though. I am interested in the craftsmanship. How are they able to create the chamber in a hand made process?
