Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you shower at night and shave afterwards? If so, do you apply aftershave? Do you sleep with it on? If you shower at night and shave in the morning, do you hot towel prep or something else?
I work a funky schedule but I will tell you what works for me. I use an aftershave or balm after every shave day or night. I try to shave after showerig if I can't it's a hot towel then a preshave.
I shower at night by habit. I never liked going to bed dirty haha. I never liked showering in the morning. I'd rather just get up, get my coffee and relax before work. Anyways, yeah, I do shave after my night shower and I usually put on an aftershave, just because I like the scent. However, as I find that my technique is improving, I'm getting such good shaves where I think I probably don't even need the aftershave.
I don't mind showering and shaving at night. I work from home...so my showers come at all times of the day. Sometimes I get to it in the morning, sometimes they are in the afternoon, and sometimes at night. I'll shave accordingly. If I want a shave without a shower, I'll prep my skin with lots of hot water and an occasional hot towel. I always finish the shave with witch hazel/balm/aftershave/etc no matter what time I shave
I shave at night after a shower. I use aftershave and fall asleep to the scent. If I want to smell nice through the day, I use cologne in the morning.
I shower / shave at night though I also shower in the morning just to wake myself up. Probably isn't the best for the water bill though. So before my shower at night I'll lather up my face with VDH and let it sit while I prep the shower and shave gear and any other business I have to do. Then I'll enter the shower with my lathered face and wash it off and soak up the most moisture I can. Then when I get out I'll dry and relather with whatever my rotation soap/cream is. I find that the Lather/Hot water/Lather punch really works well for me. I'll always use balm and A/S at night. And Just A/S in the morning.
My showers are 99.9% of the time at night and I shave after every shower and apply AS its a routine iv'e been in for years
Spot on. The main purpose for an aftershave, scented or unscented, is for the general health and well being of your skin after raking a sharp blade of steel across it. If I don't want scent, I have witch hazel or L'Oreal ASB to grab. Osage Rub dries down pretty tame, as well. If I do want scent, Brut AS or Brut ASB is what I'll splash or slather on.
:ashamed001 Guy or Gal .... If I shave in the evening ... I must apply perfume ... It just seems natural
yuep I shower in the evening, and always shave afterward except Saturday, I save my shave for Sunday morning before church.
I have tried evening shaves and I like them. However, I find morning shaves to be more... pleasurable??? Or just more ritualistic anyway. I always use an AS though, be it balm, gel, cream or splash. What ever I feel like at the time.
I shave at night just because I'm way to groggy to see straight in the morning. It's kinda bad tho because by the time I wake up I'll need another shave but I just wait till night. The drawback of having a thick fast growing beard.
I shower every morning, but since I have to be at work before 7am, I don't take the time to shave (confession: sometimes a quick cartridge shave in the shower...) My serious shaving is at night, when I can take a little time and enjoy it. Hot towel and pre-shave (ProRaso or PREP). It's often right before bed, so I do not put on any scent to saturate my pillow! But I always do put on some kind of balm--I found Kanwa recently and like it a lot--pretty light, a little goes a long way, and (since it is unscented) it doesn't clash with any colognes.
Usually, I shave in the morning after my shower. However, I will do the occasional night time shower and shave before going to bed. I will still use AS and all other post/prep treatments regardless if it is a 4 AM shave or 11 PM shave.
Thanks for the replies guys! I've used AS a few times at night, it just feels a bit strange to me. I ordered some Proraso pre/post balm to add into the routine.
